I was a scout as a boy, so learning that a statue of it's founder is in danger of vandalism, saddens me... People need to realize that Lord Baden-Powell was a product of his time, and should not be judged by the progressive views of the year 2020.

Ironically, the Mormon Church has backed out of the BSA, due to the way it has become so liberal, in terms of letting in girls, and gay rights. A new program to replace it, is being created.

The Boy Scots filed bankruptcy so they didn't have to pay all the kids they molested. I say they take the statue, sell it for scrap, and give the money to one of the boys they took out in the woods and raped. Lord Baden Powell was a gay Nazi. Google it.

The Mormons distanced themselves from the Boy Scouts because of the molesting. They have a big juicy endowment, the Mormons, and they don't want any lawyers making connection between the two and going after it.

Compared to the RCC, the BSA really tried to protect the young scouts. They had a reporting system in place, and a scout leader blacklist, to attempt to do the right thing. But they were too secretive about it, being worried about their public image. This ultimately hurt their ability to properly and fully protect the young scouts from predators. And some areas/councils were better at it, than others.

Yes, that makes sense about the Mormon Church fearing litigation. But the other things were definitely part of their reason for leaving.
