Collapse in British Nightclubs

Teetub, there have been various studies describing that loud music increases anxiety, which causes men to purchase more alcohol.

It was men getting gamed all along and I’m not sad about the decline of the cock fest club.

Went to a few clubs in Berlin that have a 'no photos no filming' policy. Signs up saying 'if you're seen filming or using your mobile phone you will be ejected. Didn't see anyone doing so either.

That should be rolled out worldwide. I guess the clubs get free promo when they're 'tagged' on insta etc though. Honestly, social media... picture based especially, is the worst. Because of women's relationship with it mainly, for reasons discussed at length here.

Should also be the case in gyms for that matter. Not so bad here, but in Mexico, stone the crows it might as well be doing push ups on a film set.

I never went to clubs to talk with chicks except once we're face to face and melting each others faces. Usually a cheeky finger blast or butt rub did the trick and off to hers or mine.

So simple, so trashy but yet I miss the rush of that. I dont do clubs now.

I always have this fantasy about a garden party type thing with live acoustic music only, in the daytime. Basically a pub courtyard with a good acoustic band. That would be my ideal and I have no idea why instead we live in a world of dark nighttime venues with ear-splitting shit music which is a true hellscape to me.

maybe you forgot to mention that you went to the "porno" clubs?
Anyway, I remember when I was younger and going to clubs they used to had photographers and you would find your pictures on the website. This was circa 2006.

Never liked "clubs" anyway. The music is mostly crappy and the vibe in Portugal has always been too focused on being seen and not having fun... thank god for foreigner influx.

What sort of twattery is this.

I went to Bergain for a techno night on one occassion. And another minimilast techno night at a different club (name escapes me, but it's on the riverside, has a nice open air section on a boat). First time around 2013, second 2015, so both in 'smartphone era'

Bergain is widely known for its (mostlygay) orgy sex parties. That's why you cannot use your cellphone inside. KitKat club being other famous club, more towards the dressed in leather kinks also with smartphone ban.

Well i dunno, we went for the techno. I remember being told there's parts of Bergein that are notorious gay corners. The other place by the river just seemed like a normal Berlin techno night to me. Either way i thought the 'no smartphones' policy was great, as who the fuck wants to inadvertadly end up on some youtube video when they're dancing, especially if it's filmed by Human-Hyenas who get their kicks on humiliating strangers.

Blimey, well re bergein was there once, saw a lot of poofs mincing about, and was told 'steer clear of that corner unless you want to be mentally scarred', and otherwise had a good night dancing. The other club was just banging techno. Lot of drug use, but other than that no additional depravity as i recall.

I apologize for bringing this topic again to recent messages, is that I need to complement what I think about the closing of the nightclubs.

I live in a 1,000,000+ city and Friday nights are so quiet it's eerie. 10 years ago I would go out Thursday/Friday/Saturday and the city was jumping each night.
I think surreal, because on Sunday afternoons (this about 15 years ago), I was sad, because I knew that 1 day I was going to grow old and I would not be well seen in a nightclub.

Today, I see the nightclubs closing one to one before my aging.

The main venue in my home town, which had been going 30 plus years, in one incarnation or another, is now apartments. Other, similar, venues folded years back. I do wonder what people do now when the bars and pubs close.

I really wonder how they'll bounce back or what the new normal in clubs is supposed to look like. People on molly, lining up to produce their 'health pass' at the entrance or what?

The thought of going into a night club now makes me cringe. The lines, the costs, the lack of sleep, the attitudes of the trash around me.

I miss some of my more local bars in SoCal that were lively community places. Music was low or non existent, cheap beers, cozy back patios.

Covid destroyed night life, probably for the better. Zoomers not being able to rage like it's 2015 in a club with little dark is a good thing.
