I can't read sign language, but it looked to me as if the interpreter was moving in an outlandish, mocking way, and sometime it seemed as if he was flipping the bird, or doing that other Fuck You gesture where you put one hand on your bicep, and raise up your fist (don't know what that one is called). I've never seen sign language done with this kind of style. It's like he was yelling sarcastically in sign.

If anyone here can read sign language well enough to get a feel for the body language he's using, please elaborate!

Oahu reported no new cases today. The number of cases have lowered every day for the last few days. Therefore, we extended the stay-at-home order to May 31st.

I have to start webcamming. Please subscribe to my Onlyfans.

Aloha!

Former ASL (American Sign Language)/English signer here. I'm a bit rusty, but I understood most of what the interpreter was saying.

A couple of things:
- No, he wasn't mocking or signing in an outlandish way. He is signing in ASL, which is a natural language commonly use in Deaf Culture that has the same linguistic properties as spoken languages even though its grammar structure is different from English.

Most importantly, ASL is expressed by movements of the hands and face - i.e., body language & facial expressions - so that's what you were seeing.

- The "f*ck you" gesture that you saw is actually an ASL sign for "you understand?". Keep in mind that the interpreter was expressing his body language and facial expression when signing "you understand".

This is a basic ASL sign for "I understand":

This is "I don't understand" in ASL:

If a person point his finger at you or the audience, he is actually signing "you understand?".

There is an ASL sign for "f*cking understand" by just using the middle finger. This is an example of "Do you f*cking get it?" in ASL.

I love deaf people. I'm sensitive to their plight for sure.

But what the hell is the point of those interpreters? Can't they just caption it for tv?

Is it just so the water head giving the speech looks like he cares about everyone?

Aren't the deaf a proud people? It's a community. Do they hate those interpreter son-of-a-bitches as much as I do?

Aloha!

There isn't really any point in having sign language interpreters on-screen when captioning is offered. Just chalk it up to feel good social justice activity.

Swedish Politician Went to Stockholm and Licked Escalator to Intentionally Contract Coronavirus

Swedish local politician Urban Persson has come under criticism after he revealed that he had travelled to Stockholm to purposely get infected with the Wuhan coronavirus.

Persson, who left the populist Sweden Democrats to form his own party, the Storfors Democrats, said that he travelled to Stockholm with a doctor around four weeks ago. He was supposed to meet with a person who was confirmed to have coronavirus, but the meeting was cancelled. He also refused to reveal the identity of the medical professional.

“I am 63 years old and have diabetes and high blood pressure. But I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem. The problem was that we were not allowed to meet the infected person, so it did not work. I tried to lick an escalator in the subway, but that didn’t work,” he said, according to Aftonbladet.

After his travel, the politician was due to attend a budget meeting, but other members of the Strorfors council refused to allow Persson to go in case he was infected with the virus.

Municipal councillor Hans Jildesten explained the rationale behind his colleagues excluding Persson from the local meeting, saying: “I have diabetes and my wife has undergone stem cell therapy. We are both in the high-risk category. If someone says they have been trying to become infected with coronavirus, I do not think it is appropriate that we sit in the same room.”

Persson, however, has complained to the office of the Parliamentary Ombudsman, telling Aftonbladet that he should have been allowed in the meeting. He said: “People have become hysterical about this infection.”

Sweden, unlike many other European countries, has had a much more relaxed approach to the coronavirus outbreak, despite several Swedish experts criticising the measures taken by the government in recent weeks.

Björn Olsen, Professor of Infectious Medicine at the University of Uppsala, stated earlier this month that he expected the situation in Sweden to get much worse and warned the country might be heading towards “tragedy”.

So far, compared to its Scandinavian neighbours, Sweden has seen far more cases and far more deaths as a result of the virus.

So very brave. I'm glad medical staff has time for TikTok videos and attending counter-protests despite being overwhelmed with bodies piling up.

They really hype the hero language.

PICTURES show the incredible moment a brave nurse faced off with people protesting coronavirus lockdowns in Arizona.

Lifesaving nurse Lauren Leander stood in front of protesters in a face mask and scrubs, with her arms crossed in a powerful stance as a man waved a flag in front of her face.
