Crypto in the IEO era

The crypto gravy train has arrived again the form of IEOs and I thought it that some fresh discussion on here was long overdue!

I created this thread to restart some general discussion on ICOs, IEOs, trading and investing in crypto in this IEO era.

Have any of you guys had success with any of the new projects launching lately?

Personally, I've held off until now due to scars from the last bull run but just put a sizable proportion of my portfolio into Harmony, which should be a sure bet as it'll be a Binance IEO.

I also have some leftover presale investments from last year which are now promising IEOs but am more skeptical about how they will pan out.

In retrospect, it seems like most ICOs were just exit scams from the beginning of their conception. Even those that weren't largely didn't offer paths to a return on investment, relying entirely on the overall swing of the market to either gain or lose value. How would an IEO be any different or guarantee any sort of meaningful return?

Like you say, it's basically just ICO mania over again and probably not at all sustainable but if you strike whilst the iron is hot, there is a lot of money to be made.

Here are some advantages that IEOs have over ICOs:

- Smaller hard caps
- Anyone could do an ICO and make up any lies that were hard to verify. IEOs are pre-vetted by exchanges and there are only a few.
- Fast turnaround time: the IEO happens on a set date then quickly starts trading on the exchange. Where I and I'm sure others got burned by many ICOs was by them taking much longer than promised to unlock the tokens and list on an exchange. IEOs prevent this.

That does sound better, but I lost a solid amount of money in the last bear run. Got greedy and should have sold when I'd doubled my money, but when the downturn started I stupidly listened to the "weak hands don't eat, HODL" crowd until I'd lost almost everything. So I'm very hesitant to get involved again in any way, shape or form.

Whats even the point when the individual cap is terribly small and every single IEO get's well over subscribed resulting in getting a very small percentage of what you invested IF you actually got in -- most end within seconds.

You don’t invest in IEO’s, you gamble on what price they’ll be listed at, and pray that you get out before they eventually dump below offering price.

99% of the men reading this would be better off stacking cash otherwise (get a promotion, start a side hustle, etc) and funneling the profits into dollar cost averaging BTC.

I haven't actually participated in any IEOs, I just buy the tokens OTC from people who participated in the presale. They will usually have some kind of lockup but you can buy as many as you like.

Unless things have changed, a few months late

It was near impossible to get into IEOs after BitTorrent and Fetch (first two that started the trend)

Combined with the fact that the contribution limits are relatively small, don't think it's worth the time and stress

Stacking sats is just way easier if you have income

Been said. Exit scams and gambles. Especially at the later stages when EVERYONE jumps in.

Stick to the big coins AND the exchange coins. BNB has the possibility to do well as volume goes up... but they can ALSO do an exit scam at any point and call it a hack or whatever.

I agree with everything you wrote except the last word.

I managed to get two winning tickets for the Harmony IEO on Binance so that's looking good! I've locked up my KCS to enter the COTI IEO on KuCoin too.
