I think this is a decent buy, and this feature has brought serious attention. It's the primary DeFi platform for Stacks, a smart contracts layer for BTC. Stacks was on my list of projects to consider buying, but I avoided it due to it not having too much end user activity. But it has performed very well since Nov 22. Now a top 40 coin. It's considered enterprise grade, which is what has propelled it. Will buy it if it takes a good pull back. And also Alex. Probably the only DeFi token I'll hold into '22.

I can see a lot of competition with ETH L2s, Stacks and maybe one other L1.

Moved from BTC thread -

What are y'all's predictions about the final move down for BTC ... or will the type of market issue (banks, confidence) make for the final decoupling we've been waiting for?

I'll go first: One last move down to 15k. Then new ATHs either by the end of this year, or the highest of the trend in late 2024.

Depends on how much they can path things over, but I don't see any way they can completely avoid some kind of recession and considerable bankruptcies of banks, companies and households. This time round consumers aren't in such a terrible shape as they haven't been extended so much credit. But there are a lot of ill looking corporates and some banks. Govt. borrowing is becoming quite insane. Still I think The Fed will hit 7% for rates, or close to it. If the Ukraine war winds down that takes the edge off inflation. It seems the Fed has and is bailing out banks in Europe, because the ECB doesn't have the ability/power to do so. But I think they will be able to paper over a major recession and we'll get back to the printer for one last hurrah into about 2033.

So, yes, I think that would probably take BTC to about $15K. If they can't paper it, I think there will be a brief window around $5K.

So I am piling up on exchanges and to buy GBTC. If you're really lucky you might be able to get GBTC at around $3K.

So you do believe in GBTC as a good proxy, or even a discount that won't be broken/blown up (and might even get beyond that discount with an eventual spot ETF)? What about the miners? I was always thinking that would be a great "paper" play to hold and get anywhere from 30-50x if you got in at the single digit (thousands) pricing of BTC ... stay tuned

It seems GBTC is safe, but I don't know about it's future. I began buying last year in July, because with the recession risk I wanted to feel I was getting BTC really cheap. Probably bought it as low as $8K equivalent.

If there is a bad recession I would expect a very nice window for GBTC, because it has a blind and thin order book. If you market sell GBTC you'll find there are not many bids to pick your sell. People will probably panic market sell, not realising how it will go.

I'm treating it as a bit of a bet. It seems with BTC recovering the discount gets smaller, so I am assuming whatever happens it will be extra profit. Always the possibility it ends up trading more than BTC.

I haven't looked at miners. Likely they will boom with normie bucks when BTC FOMOs.

I can't take this guy seriously. Tried to listen to him regarding the Russia-Ukraine war and his analysis was beyond retarded.

The guy was groomed at Stratfor which is a private Intel company heavily tied to the Department of State and DOD. He repeats the same narratives and old Intel reports that are pushed again and again. Nothing special about what he says. Additionally, he makes big predictions that are far fetched. For example, he believes in the total collapse of China within 10 yrs. The only thing that makes him special is his ability to market himself.

He has that knack for language, indeed. I loved one of the comments under that tweet he put up, linked above:

"He probably would have predicted a 'pirate state' future for Singapore once they cracked down hard on crime in the 60s"
