There's a lot to criticize about how women behave today, but I'd never criticize one for skipping out on a boring dude. Yet because a dude is not a child molester and has a job, she has to say yes to a second time and hope he's more interesting? Fuck that. I hate flakiness, insularity and attention whoring, but I don't blame a girl for walking out on some dorky schlub like this dude.

No joke. When I read this article I was really surprised she did not go the the "restroom" and leave. If she had, I would not begrudge her for it. Dude is a clown.

My favorite line:

Melissa: In D.C., everybody lives an hour and a half away once you account for traffic, but he literally lives a true hour and a half away, which led me to: Why are you here? Who would drive that far to go on a date with someone?

Hell no.

If I weren't so paranoid I'd throw a pic of myself up here. Apparently a lot of dudes think I might look like a dork. You all would be surprised.

I feel terrible for Black career women. They've shrunken their pool of potential mates to almost nothing.

I know a 33 year old, in shape, attractive Black psychologist. Her attitude and entitlement is through the roof, of course. She hasn't been able to find anyone to marry yet besides some 25 year old guy from the islands. She loves him but is paranoid that he might be marrying her for citizenship. She's gonna make him sign a pre-nup. Good idea. But seriously, how will this marriage last? She's a huge, ball busting diva. I don't know the guy, but he doesn't make much money and is way younger.

What he should have said is....

We don't care about your education if we just want to bang.

Now anything more than that?...I still don't really care about her education because there are many degrees that don't pay squat, BUT....

*** and you all KNEW I would post this ***

I CARE ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY SHE HAS

I think her opinion of him may have been drastically different if he had simply shown up to the date dressed in a RVF acceptable way, i.e. preferably custom suited, but if not, wearing a stylish, fitted shirt with no t-shirt underneath, slacks instead of jeans, etc. I always make a strong effort to avoid these rookie fashion mistakes and I am sure that this has paid off in the long run. I am sure girls would see some serious "flaws" in me if I were to show up dressed like this guy.

I'm jealous of Black dudes in that they can wear certain things that a white dude wouldn't be able to get away with. Suit to a first date being one of them. Blacks guys look like ballers, white dudes look like try-too-hard-to-impress betas.

Agreed, but fixed it for you.

Like I have said before, when you match education or income with these chicks, they back off. I just check the average salaries of physicians in the state of Maryland and unless that female doctor is an "A.N. Internal" Physician, she doesn't make more money than me. On top of that, her degrees would not be too much more difficult than mine (B.S. Applied Mathematics/M.S. Engineering).

Plus she is black and a physician which means her dating prospects who will approach her is near zero where mine would be much more....WHICH MEANS...

I would show up in friggin' jeans and Timberlands...fugg I need a suit for?

We could both cut the date short and I would find a chick (especially in DC) before she find a guy.

I've done the suit thing and closed on a first date before; grey suit, shirt blown open, I looked like Don Draper after a 48-hour cocaine-and-whores party; not a 9-5 suit, but a 9-5 suit, namsaying?

I feel zero sympathy for women who won't even look at men because they're too high on their own achievements...dare I suggest that this girl go after a Hill guy who has status and money even if he's...WHITE!?

What I would have done: I don't care about race (some black chicks are mad hot), but I would have demanded Datelab set me up with a 22 year old.

Good point.

A week ago on a date, I wore a corduroy blazer like this on top of a black Calvin Klein v-neck t-shirt and I got the bang.

Not to change topic but what about color shoes would you pair with this outfit?

There is a lot of debate about dark jeans vs slacks for a first date. I've wondered this myself. Question: What type of slacks specifically? Chinos?... wool slacks?

I think black or dark brown shoes work best. Dark, solid colored shirt and dark, slightly ripped jeans look seriously boss with this blazer. The plaid shirt thing, like this guy's wearing, looks stupid, imo.

Regardless of how you feel about black american career women, you've got to admit that this guy just didn't have it.

Melissa: We had about 20 minutes to talk before the comedians started. He was easy to talk to. But there were a few [awkward] moments. He asked if I wanted to switch seats, and I was like , “No, I’m good,” and he was like, “Yeah, if someone walks by, I can just karate-chop them.” It was loud enough for other people to hear. I was a little embarrassed....

...Melissa:We walked into the restaurant, and he said something along the lines of, “Yeah, we’re here for the super-duper fantastic date,” and the hostess lady was like, “That is one too many adjectives.” And I was like, “Yeah, we’re just here for the date.”

This date had the perfect "villain," an educated and demanding black woman...but this dude was just weak.

The guy reminds me of the movie "The 40 year old Virgin" with his bad clothes and corny lines. The only way it could have been more embarrassing is if he had heckled the comedian or did a magic trick in the restaurant.
