Dating a Foodie - Red Flag or Acceptable?

I recently starting dating a girl, who checks many boxes for me, with exception of one thing. While she is relatively fit now, she ALWAYS is talking about food. At 31, she looks good, however I am worried things could change.

Her mother, who is in her early 50s, is very fit, however she also runs every other day (something her daughter does not).

Thoughts on how I can encourage her to take after her mom? Should I worry that she wants to try new (unhealthy) food all the time?

Well assuming she didn't just become a foodie, she must be doing something to stay fit(or maybe not, I am naturally fit)?

The real redflags would be her needing to photograph and upload said meals to social media everytime she goes out to try something new. Getting upset if you won't go to the new place with her etc.

Me personally, I am a meat and potato guy and have no interest in dating foodies that have some sort of need to try new exotic meals all the time. I understand the appeal I suppose, but give me a source of meat that is seasoned properly and a carb source and I am happy and content.

Foodies will run through money with abandon, and funnily enough, they likely won't be satiated at the end of it. There's always another "trendy" restaurant or "exotic" food just around the corner, waiting to be consumed by "connoisseurs" and (hopefully not) photographed.

To answer your question: It's a red flag. Proceed with caution and a closed wallet.

31, unmarried, no kids, and gourmet food is at the top of her "needs hierarchy"?

And her being a foodie is "the one thing"at the top of the list of concerns for you?

To be fair, she eats relatively light (much lighter than I do), however as some have mentioned she has taken photos of food when out to share on Yelp and her IG.

A "foodie" who likes to cook and eat healthy and tasty meals at home = a big plus.

A "foodie" who doesn't like to cook and wastes money on restaurant food all the time = a big minus.

All Asian girls are 'foodies'.

All girls who are shit cooks are 'foodies'.

All girls who want a lifestyle man are 'foodies'.

There are a lot of women in cities that lack basic skills, and eating is the easiest one to sub contract.

I would work on developing the Foodie to enjoying cooking old style meals from scratch then moving on to a more traditional life.

You've done such a great job with these home cooked meals now lets try growing most of our own food!

Finding value and pleasure from what you produce yourself.

Get an old cookbook from the 1940's

If she doesn't spend $20 on avocado toast or kombucha smoothies, then it's fine.

It all makes sense now. Wet markets naturally came about to satisfy Asian thots' demand for exotic meat because they wanted all of the village's attention at dinner time. Then when asked why they were eating such weird things, they said "traditional family medicine."

Agree with bolded, but I've been with many east-Asian girls and they all cooked for me. No white or black American woman ever did.

There's a big difference between enjoying cooking new recipes and attention-whoring about trendy exotic restaurants.

Agreed. I have dated (for a short time) a girl who wanted to be seen on the scene at the newest spots in town. After the 3rd date, it was apparent, she was more interested in her Yelp reviews and Instagram pics than building anything.
