I can certainly tell you that there was nothing civilized and advanced about it as it was literally built upon the forced assimilation, enslavement and genocide (This one only in 20th century) of thousands of non-muslims. There is a rich but bloody and brutal history of conflict between non-muslims all over the world that has existed ever since the founding of Islam as a religion.
