Do your favorite rappers believe all white people were invented by an evil scientist?

I am slightly taken aback by the red pill thinking in this thread. I'm presenting actual evidence that some of the most respected and influental members of the most relevant culture and genre of music today subscribe to a hateful and esoteric religion and the response is essentially that they were doing it for attention.

Go on the street and ask 1000 people if they're surprised that Busta Rhymes is a five percenter and has always been a five percenter and how many people do you think could answer this question. How many of you could have defined the term before this topic? Sounds like an ineffective meme if you ask me. Sure maybe a few of those people would react to the phrase "Illuminati" but that is currently and explicitly pushed while this is merely referenced and has been since the formation of hip hop.

But yeah, theyre really going for that poor crazy black guy dollar from 20 years ago.

How would you guys even know if they take it seriously? Less than 1% of people even know that this group exists.

How are these actions contrary to being a five percenter

What evidence do you have that the urban youth is informed about this or that it is fashionable to be part of a hate group, or at least reference them in public.

It seems like all of the objections to this being an actual thing are based on things you are supposing about their motivations which is impossible to prove, while the evidence ive provided is at least that, evidence.

Jay z is admittedly not my first choice for an example, but jay electronica is an example that seems to fit completely.

If I let the political and religious opinions of actors and musicians determine whether or not I enjoyed their art I wouldn't be watching or listening to much of anything.

They're creative, and with creativity comes a certain amount of insanity.

If you disagree with their opinions just try not to fund them.

WIA already covered this in some other thread I think. Like Kosko said, they grew up around the stuff and used some of the teachings in their rhymes. You know it's just merely inspired because they drop Christian stuff, even in the same exact songs.

Only a small select group of rappers are fully 5%. The rest are just regular Christian, Muslim, or nothing (Agnostic). Big L was probably one of the few atheist ones although it seems he may have been just angry with Jesus for the way his life was.

If you seriously think most rappers are some weird racist cult, you are seriously reaching. Your lover Kanye could be the biggest racist of all current rappers for all we know. He's one of the biggest race baiters for sure.

I think there's a decent chance Kanye is a five percenter but has simply never referenced it. I dont give a fuck because he makes the best music of all time. Still my argument here is supported by evidence while your refusal is supported by your feelings and guesses.

What you also have to understand about this 5% stuff is that the main point isn't hating whites. It's about black self-empowerment primarily. Becoming socially aware of how blacks in the Americas and Africa have a shared legacy and history of subjugation. Stopping the violence, doing for self, building our communities. Many eschew things like eating pork, smoking, marijuana, drugs and advocate a clean lifestyle.

Focusing on that Dr. Yacub bullshit is kind of missing the point. As stupid as I think that part is, being 5% is primarily about black-self improvement and consciousness.

edit --

That said, some of them are total screwballs, such as the ones standing on street corners in NYC preaching. Some just embrace the black awareness stuff, but may not even know shit(or care) about the Dr. Yacub folklore.

Similar to how Joseph-Gordon Levitt only dates hot young supermodels while claiming that feminism is a great thing and a woman's worth has nothing to do with her looks.

Dude, that guy is gay as a parade. Mark my words, in a few years he will come out and media will give his career a huge boost.

Just read briefly up on this. Makes Mormonism seem hardcore science.

The guys believe a black dude in Mekka took 50.000 people with him to an island and tried to breed the black out of them and killed all the black children and from that came white people 6600 years ago, born evil and degenerate.

Also believes that man is 66 trillion years old. Believes that all other people than whites descend from a tribe called Shabazz.

Pretty damn stupid even as far as religion goes.

Knew some militant guys in college who were into this, seems like every fringe-theory (whether GMO, the moon, various 9/11 theories) as of late has gone mainstream via social media.

Of course, this obfuscates what really matters, like the fact the USA has officially entered male surplus territory of China.

Meh. I'm black and I still watch Mel Gibson movies. After the tapes came out about the racist, and anti Semitic rants I still watched his movies. ****SPOILER ALERT*** I was actually pleasantly surprised when I saw him in Expendables III. Nonissue to me.....

I'm intrigued by that since a lot of rappers and political activists seem to take names with "Shabazz" being part of their name.

I think being a racial supremacist is something most people go through, and then the feeling cools, and its not as big a deal as people make it out in our culture. I guess cause in America so many different races are living together the PTB don't want to stir shit up.

Malcolm X, who contrary to what many have probably been led to believe, was a big supporter of racial harmony and getting past the whole us vs them mentality that was going on in the 1960's, but he went through a phase of being a black supremacist and believing white people are the devil. I highly recommend his book also.

I think its normal for men to go through this phase of being proud of your heritage. People who are into it are generally struggling to find belonging anyway. Malcom X was in prison when he became most radical. Many white nationalist groups are people who aren't doing that well financially and have real and imagined grievances with those more powerful, and if those more powerful are a different color than you...well that causes more resentment doesn't it?

I think people can get along, but America is in some desperate need of some real talk.

In my opinion what blacks need to do is find some new leaders of the caliber of Malcolm X and Dr. King and throwaway Sharpton and Jackson.

White leaders need to stop being such pussies and afraid of the PC crowd.

Hispanics need to go back to Guatemala. lol Is that trolling?

Yes! William Cross Theory right?

http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-76511980.html

William Cross's Theory essentially describes the stages of racial identity that many minorities go through, and even white people. The stages are Pre-Encounter, Immersion-Emerision and Internalization. The theory goes something like this.

Pre-Encounter:
Minorities try to assimilate into the dominant culture by adopting cultural traits of the dominant culture. An example of this was Malcolm X himself where in the movie he tried to dye his hair blonde and straightened his hair. The radical point of this stage is where minorities display self-hate towards themselves and become anti-minority. These will be considered "white-washed".

Immersion-Emersion:
In this stage the person makes a transition into racial activism. Intense Black involvement, Intense Latino involvement. They deny everything from the dominant culture and establish anti-white attitudes. He or she express a strong sense of pride and love for their race and culture. They consume hate for the white man and see him as an enemy. Malcolm X throughout his life in search of his identity develops this when he meets the Nation of Islam and Elijah Muhammad.

Internalization:
By this stage the person tones down the racial supremacy from the Immersion-Emersion stage. He or she develops a sense of living together in Racial harmony while maintaining a sense of pride for the culture and heritage. The person internalizes aspects of different cultures and learns to work with people of different races including those in the dominant culture. Malcolm X came back from his trip to Egypt a changed man. He reached out to whites in support for civil rights and leaves the Nation of Islam and planned to join Martin Luther King in his ideas. Malcolm became open to the idea of others to help out, be it people from different religious organizations and races.

Not sure how much fact you can put into this theory, but pretty interesting to say the least.
