Eating out at restaurants and food quality

It pisses me off how obsessed women are with eating out, but in seems prevelant with everyone. I learned how big Sysco was about a decade ago and I just assumed it was the main supplier of restaurants. Then I learned about seed oils and the insane amount of processed garbage in these types of foods and realized restaurant food is overpriced garbage. Then of course the whole tipping thing which I am wholly against. I normally only eat out maybe 5x a year, if that.

What do you guys do when it's time to go out with your date/girlfriend? Do you avoid dinner dates or do you go out anyway and try to order the most healthy thing on the menu?
I avoid them, I just tell them it's all garbage and I can cook something that is healthier and tastes better.

If I do go, I at least attempt to choose a healthier restaurant and order something healthy-ish, soups or chili or devilled eggs for instance is usually a safe bet, though seed oils are literally impossible to avoid, even in those.

Tipping really has gotten obnoxious. It makes sense when you're sitting down and get good service, but everyone wants a tip now. From drive thru coffee, to Subway, ice cream, food trucks, etc. And then you have to worry about some whiny communist potentially doing something to your food if you don't tip. I'm still young, but old enough to remember when it wasn't like this.

Food trucks are really popular where I live for some reason. $15-20 (and they'll ask for a tip) for a meal you can make for a fraction of the cost at home, and with better ingredients.

I went to a cafe recently with a friend from church. Ordered a sandwich and a coffee. Firstly, it was overpriced, and then it gives you a tip screen, where the three default tip options are 15, 18, and 20 percent. This is before you even get the food. My friend asks me about the tip because he feels pressured to tip more. I tell him it's silly, and that I'm tipping the 15%. Shouldn't have even tipped, in hindsight.

Why would I tip at a cafe? They did bring me the food, but they didn't wait on us, bring us water, ask us how it was, bring us bread, or anything like that. It's a greedy scam. It's one thing to tip cash, where you at least can hope most or all goes to the staff, but these credit tip things are insulting, and you know a lot of it's going to people you don't want it to, like the IRS.

Re: Sysco food. Not surprised to learn that most of the food we eat when eating out is from this kind of provider. I can't tell the difference between resturants anymore. It all tastes the same and it's all the same menu. Burtons or Grill 110 etc. Chicken avocado egg rolls app, anyone? When Friday rolls around and it's time to make a decision I'm not stuck on the number of options I have, which are many, but, that each option is the same as the other. Even non-chain restaurants - it's the same thing. Also, I get sick when I eat this stuff. I'll have bad GI issues afterward. I can't pig out on this stuff even if I wanted too.

Maybe it's not an issue for most men because the hookup culture has pretty much ended dating (it has, hasn't it?) But when you do find yourself on a date, I can't see a way around this problem. You can take a girl to a cafe or bar for the first couple of dates, but sooner or later, she's going to want to check out the newest restaurant that just opened up. Like you said, girls these days are obsessed with eating out, not to mention taking their stupid pics of the food in front of them.

You mentioned soup and chili. You'd think these would be devoid of oils but I've looked at labels in the store and even some of those have seed oils in them. Plus, ordering soup while your date is scarfing down an entire entree will probably upset her because she has more food on her plate than you do. I can already hear the girl exclaim, "Is that all you're going to order???"

I do not envy younger men's burden with women. I thought they were bad when I was young! They can be trained though, if you get the right one. Mine went to Arby's almost every single day when we got together. She did not change overnight. Neither did we.

I'm applying for a job that requires me to travel a lot and stay in hotels for a few days at a time. My main concern is, of course, food. My idea is to ask the potential employer if it is possible to stay in a vacation apartment instead outside of the city, that has a kitchen and a fridge so I can buy and cook my own food to avoid eating garbage, and I can take my herbs with me because I can use them to flavor my food and give them water, otherwise they would probably wither.

I don't need any kind of luxury, just a bed, a shower, a kitchen with a fridge, that's it. My first check tells me that vacation apartments are cheaper than hotel rooms.

I spent some time as one of those traveling manaement consultants, so I know what you're talking about here.

Grocery stores are your friend here. I assume you'll have a meal allowance? My recommendation is to find a local whole foods and utilize the food bar there. Depending on where you go farm to table restaurants might be an option. The place I went to the most had one natural ingredient type pizza and salad place I'd order from frequently and it was outstanding.

That said if you can show the data to illustrate that the vacation apartment is cheaper your policies will typically approve that.

I've been on a lot of dates in the past year and a half or so, and while it is an inevitable thing that they're going to want to do at some point, I still avoid it pretty well. I break down how garbage the food is and insist on cooking for them, but if we do eat out I'm very careful about where we go and really, why should you let her decide? Not every girl is obsessesed with eating out and taking pics of their food, and honestly those type of women repel me so much that I don't date them in the first place.

And yes, soup and chili often very often soybean oil in them, I don't get why, it literally has no flavor, why even add it? Especially with all the people who still think all fats=bad. It's even in seasoning packets! I'm almost convinced this is intentional to weaken the population, but that's another discussion.

Most US hotels, especially Marriott and Hilton brands, have fridges already, or you can ask for one. Kitchen is another matter…extended stay hotels will have that and like you said, cheaper than a 3 star.

Grass Fed ground beef, cooked in 1 lb patties and sealed in 1qt ziplocks, frozen, is very energy dense and easy to pack. Double seal in a soft cooler pack and packed between clothes and it will stay cold for 24 hrs, and if you add hotel ice when you don’t have a fridge, no problem.

I also bring salt and butter, and add that to my burger for taste, and extra saturated fat, which will keep me going on 1 meal per day. Butter keeps fine at room temp, just get a hard Tupperware to put it in so it doesn’t leak or get smashed.

Animal fat is very hard to get while away from home, which is why I bring 1/2 lb of butter with me. Even steakhouses trim too much fat off. It is the key to not feeling hungry.

I honestly don’t know how you would do it. I’m not really a healthy eater, but I inevitably got sick of eating out on my occasional work trips, so I got a hotel room with a kitchenette. It worked, but you’ll waste most your free time on the logistics of buying everything, clean up, transport, etc. Keep in mind in your hometown you know the ins and outs of the local grocery stores, your kitchen, etc. It gets exhausting researching hotels, grocery stores, and whatever else you might need. Not as bad if you stay in one place for several days at a time, but if you are on the move every 1-2 days it’s an exhausting process. The more stuff you’re keeping track of, the more stuff you’ll inevitably lose. You’ll also waste a ton of food because it’s almost impossible to shop picky and still optimize your quantities for the travel logistics. Someone more disciplined and organized might be able to figure out a routine better than I.

That’s why meat is so easy. I know the amount I need for each day, and it can be pre cooked, or even cooked in a kitchenette in 5 minutes with another 5 minutes cleanup. 1 pan on the stove, add meat, eat, cleanup, done. Get on with your day, and you save at least an hour per day to do something else besides elaborate “cooking.” If you want add time to your day to do other things, just eat meat. Not only will you spend far less time cooking, but you may only eat once or twice a day, or skip a day, and barely feel hunger. Never mind the health benefits, the time gain is worth it alone.

Because if we eat too much clean protein, vitamins and minerals, we might get the idea to rebel against our 40% bodyfat self-appointed Godless elites. They need to throw soy, a cancerous endocrine-disruptor that blocks the absorption of vitamin C and D among others, in everything because of this.

I pull the same move. Cook for a woman, and she will remember it far more. Of course with the higher end ones (not discussing game, the same can be applied for wife-hunting!) they will want to go to a restaurant, so just make a detox remedy handy or spend the extra money to go to a place you have picked out ahead of time that you verified with their supplier that isn't sysco and that their food doesn't have the manboob-causing agents in it. I know expensive restaurants in several countries that source their food naturally, and I've visited the farms in two of them. I still have my doubts about how some things are, knowing how restaurants cut corners from working in several as a teen, but with a wife candidate I will make the time and finances to do this, and our bodies can recover from the slight poisonings that may be present.

My wife and I went to Texas Roadhouse this evening for the first time in many years. A very popular place where I live, seems to always be busy. First thing I noticed was how loud it was. Could barely hear the waiter (who was flamboyantly gay) or my wife. Food was mediocre at best and the only saving grace was that the bill came in lower than I thought.

However the main take away from tonight wasn’t the food. It was what I was surrounded by. I swear ever guy under 25 was dressed the same: blue jeans, boots, t shirt, trucker hat, sunglasses on hat. I honestly couldn’t believe that they all just looked the same. I’m not sure if this is some sort of country trend but it was noticeable to say the least. Then of course you pass the obese, the slobs, the teen girls in booty shorts. I might have been the only one in a polo shirt. The whole ambiance just put me in a bad mood. People talk a lot about the matrix but I feel like I just lived through it. Just robots dressed alike, not taking care of themselves, eating soy slop on a Thursday night. I don’t remember noticing these things as much as I do now. It honestly makes me want to limit my exposure to the public as much as I can.
