Fasting food ideas.(My priest recommends 3 days before Liturgy plus the Wednesday fast makes 4 1/2 days of fasting each week...if I've figured right)

Only if you follow the new calendar.

Thank you.

When did/does the Apostles’ Fast start on the old calendar?

Our Orthodox Church lists as 20 June 2022 for the fast to begin.

Is this correct - All dairy and meat prohibited, along with oil until when?

Until the Feast Day of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul on July 12th.

The Apostles' Fast is actually less demanding than the Great 40-day Fast before Holy Week and Pascha.
On my ("old") calendar, wine and oil are permitted on most weekdays (except Wednesdays and Fridays), and
fish, wine and oil on Saturdays and Sundays.

Fasting 3 days before Liturgy??? I've been in the Church for over 10 years and have never heard that..in fact, it's my understanding that you are NOT supposed to fast on Saturdays (other than specific particular fast days on the calendar) per canon law.
Exactly. Only clergy are expected to fast on Saturdays, before liturgy. And fasting on feast days and non-fast days is actually a sin, IIRC.

I'm starting to wonder if I misunderstood my batiushka, english was not his first language. Only a retired priest was English at an OCA church I attended. All other priests I've met in the past year have had english-as-a-second language.
