I played Counterstrike since 1.3. CS is a game for the elite. Even casuals are usually above average for a gamer. I was CAL-IM ranked at one point and I can count how many times we ever faced a girl in competition outside of the clan pubs. Zero.
In another time, top CS players with their hand eye coordination of a fighter pilot, would be pilots instead of gamers, with the intelligence to match it usually. CS players are not autistic at all. More OCD, heavy trash talking, perfectionist, and extremely competitive.
You want to see autistic gamers? Pretty much any strategy, turnbased, 4X, Sci-FI heavy, war historical, and card games. CS people, especially pros are in good physical shape and are just too serious for sperg out stuff. Unless you ever been in that world it does not seem different from other generic gamers, but your average CS player is a different cat. FPS Doug and Jeremy got recognition because they were actually autistic and that was strange for the time, for a CS player. They are Canadian too, so could have just been that.
Trash talking in CS is just part of the culture. Even in serious clans and many pros, even nice and cool guys like Hatton talk a little bit of trash. It's not the same level of trash talking in COD, but it is common to ride someone who cannot hang in a matchup, before or after a match. For years in CS 1-1.6 you could spray a custom avatar on someone's dead body or a wall after killing them. We used to put all kinds of funny and insulting shit on our sprays. It was all part of the psychological warfare to get someone agitated so that their shots would be slightly off even a millimeter. Made all the difference in the world.
