I've had to file a police report, and they do indeed get your name and full information. Furthermore, US criminal law includes a right to confront your accuser, so I think there would indeed be a lot of opportunites for your name to get out in the process of filing a report.

I'll go ahead and click the report button on death threat tweets that I see. Having these fuckers lose the ability to attention whore will be brutal for them.

I think rather than actually file a report, you should get her and others alike to think that you might file charges against them. Put the fear of jail in them, publicly

I'd still say the best move is to report the tweets individually. I am willing to be a lot of the people making death threats are social media addicts with no online impulse control and for them, getting banned from twitter is pretty serious.

I hardly consider online threats from twitter slacktivists 'serious'.

This is the great thing about millenials. They possess such little agency that the likelihood of them doing anything that doesn't involve the protective barrier of an Apple product in front of them is already tiny. Add to the fact that they're girls, who lack discipline at the best of times, and fold the moment anything gets remotely difficult or uncomfortable, then the threat is neglible at best.

She's going to take the lazy option of signing a change.org petition and bawling that 'something must be done!' on twitter, rather than doing detective work, leaving the house to buy a gun, stalking Tuthmosis and shooting him, because she'll want to check out that new artisanal cronut shop all her fat friends are talking about tomorrow; newer outrages are tweeting from her friends every few seconds to numb the pain of the original offense; and the latest season of 'Game Of Thrones' has almost finished downloading to binge watch with some chinese takeout whilst clutching her cat like the obvious boy-or-girlfriend substitute it is.

I think Tuth is doing exactly the right thing: keep all explicitly threatening tweets or posts on file for future reference. If anyone reports one of these to Twitter that's fine (though not always necessary), but most of all make sure you keep a cached copy before they're deleted.

More important than any of this is to protect one's online anonymity by taking a number of simple steps (some of which have been discussed elsewhere and some of which are best not discussed in public at all).

You're looking at it the wrong way.

If you're a fit, disciplined man capable of setting realistic goals and working towards them to completion, you are now a god on this earth. Where you used to have to stand on the shoulders of giants to see further, now it's because everyone else is still learning to crawl.

Look at this: a huge amount of women spun into complete emotional breakdown by a fucking blog post. I've watched people die without breaking down, because I'm resilient enough to bear heavy pain without collapsing. It's not because I don't feel pain, it's because i'm not mentally-weak. The girls in question here are simply mentally-defective, the sort of defetive that is generated by an affluent, priviliged life without any genuine tragedy, hardship, and possibly even genuinely-considered negative criticism, teaching them resilience. The result is 'white girl problems' like eating disorders or going emo.

If you've been paying attention, this threat of violence is not the only one that's been made to me--or even the most serious one. People are calling for me to be burned, shot, and killed all over the place. It isn't all fun and games either. All it would take is for one hero to take that seriously and actually try to harm me.

I'm compiling them, yes, but short of hitting the report button and trying to get all of those people's accounts suspended, I don't see what else I can do without filing some elaborate lawsuit. Frankly, I don't know Twitter's politics, so quite it's possible that hitting the report button 250 times might backfire. If the Twitter admins happen to be some white knights who hold a double standard against my legal right to free speech, and these bitches' illegal threats.

This, as you know, is the sad state of affairs in many, if not most, online communities. It's nothing new, and we've seen women forgiven for violations while men are summarily banned or otherwise punished.

You guys realize that you can submit it? Tuth doesn't have to do it.

This. If something really offends you, you have the right to hit the report button on Twitter or elsewhere.

Twitter would not work, but have you received any direct email messages to your rok email with serious threats? That would be interesting to prosecute. It would make an example and improve the law.
