BBC Earth has some nearly unbelievable footage. I like to record episodes and put them on for background, where I'm not really watching, but it's on if I happen to look up. I find it very soothing to watch nature shows like this.

On YouTube you can pull up live bird feeder cams, same concept. I put it on in my office when I’m having a rough day. I found one that is somewhat local and it’s always nice to see the innocence and beauty of gods creations to put life into perspective even if it’s something as simple as a couple pretty doves pecking at seed or a grouse strutting his stuff.

Today I made my first purchase in an unmanned supermarket in my life, in Stockholm. You had to register as a member and use the smartphone to identify yourself to get in. It was just me, the groceries and a huge army of security cameras. It's 24/7 open access.

But I suppose this will be standard in the Western world in the next 15-20 years or so. It made me think that the job market will probably go the same way as the modern dating market. In the 50's almost every man could get a wife. But since more women entered the work force it became more like the 80/20 rule and since women can meet alpha Chads online nowadays I suppose it's more like 90/10 (where basically only 10% get all the action).

In the future I think the tech geeks, engineers etc. will be the ones getting basically 90% of all the money from salaries while the rest can hope to scrape some of the smaller remains.

While I don't disagree that IT and Software-adjacent fields will dominate the coming decades, don't discount the potential for normalcy bias. This is only assuming this dying, fetid corpse of a society in the West will even make it to 2030 with the constant and relentless assaults of our favorite Globohomo perpetrators. ;) Farming and agriculture is far more important for a community than desktop support specialists can ever be.

Guy's fiancee announces she wants to stay at home after they get married, he is very displeased by this development. Says one of the reasons he fell in love with her was due to her ambition. Ewww.

Pretty funny.

Hmm.. not what I expected. The guy said ok to "stay-at-home mom" but not "stay-at-home wife". Sounds like she doesn't want kids. That is a big red flag imho. She apparently was unable or unwilling to explain what she wanted to do with her free time. You would think they would have talked about these topics after 3 years of dating and agreeing to marry. I definitely would not be happy with my wife not wanting children and then sitting at home all day doing God knows what. Seems like a recipe for disaster. If I were in his position I would first try to work things out if I loved her and felt there was still some potential but if he described the situation accurately I would probably back off and cancel the marriage.

The whole thing just seems weird. 3 years is a while to date before getting married. I don't get the impression either of them want kids.

To be honest I'd rather have my wife stay at home than slave away at some meaningless job. But this chick bringing it up before the wedding would give me pause.

commenting on the current situation:
′′ This moment humanity is experiencing can be seen as a door or a hole. The decision to fall in the hole or walk through the door is up to you. If you consume the news 24 hours a day, with negative energy, constantly nervous, with pessimism, you will fall into this hole.
But if you take the opportunity to look at yourself, to rethink life and death, to take care of yourself and others, then you will walk through the portal.
Take care of your home, take care of your body. Connect with your spiritual home. When you take care of yourself, you take care of everyone at the same time.
Do not underestimate the spiritual dimension of this crisis. Take the perspective of an eagle that sees everything from above with a broader view. There is a social question in this crisis, but also a spiritual question. The two go hand in hand.
Without the social dimension we fall into fanaticism. Without the spiritual dimension, we fall into pessimism and futility.
Are you ready to face this crisis. Grab your toolbox and use all the tools at your disposal.
Learn resistance from the example of Indian and African peoples: we have been and are exterminated. But we never stopped singing, dancing, lighting a fire and rejoicing.
Don't feel guilty for feeling blessed in these troubled times. Being sad or angry doesn't help at all. Resistance is resistance through joy!
You have the right to be strong and positive. And there's no other way to do it than to maintain a beautiful, happy, bright posture.
Has nothing to do with alienation (ignorance of the world). It's a resistance strategy.
When we cross the threshold, we have a new worldview because we faced our fears and difficulties. This is all you can do now:
- Serenity in the storm
- Keep calm, pray everyday
- Make a habit of meeting the sacred everyday.
Show resistance through art, joy, trust and love.
