Gavin Newsom recall thread

Sad night for the United States. Most people will probably read the news and think nothing of it as it's California but this is a harbinger of truly dark times ahead. I think most Californians realize that the elections are no longer legitimate. The groundswell of support to oust him from office was quite evident. The powers that be no longer care how blatant they are in controlling the levers and machinations of this political beast. They want to destroy the country and have been quite successful thus far.

I'd rather spend 15 minutes or even a couple hours filling out an extra piece of paper that they have to burn out shred than be a cynical douche.

Sad to hear, it’s pretty fun!
I don't understand why everyone is being so pathetic about this. If voting is a right your ancestors fought for, even if it no longer matters shouldn't you do it anyway? It's not particularly hard, its as easy as filling out a form, and there's nothing you lose doing so.

If it means a few dozen more democrats are spotted carrying ballots in suitcases, or a few more bags of ballots are found in dumpsters, maybe that will make the difference, open more peoples eyes, you know? The more people who realise the media are rotten the better.

I was under no illusion that Newsom would receive any sort of justice last night. If anything, the result should (if it hasn't already) galvanize California Republicans for the collapse of their state.

Then again, I've only heard about how pointless electoral politics are here the past... Oh, I don't know, 20 years...

And no doubt the Republicans are relieved because they still get all the congressional/senatorial perks from their sinecures in safe seats around the rest of the slowly shrinking GOP territory in the US. Still get the donor money. Still get the corporate gigs afterward.

Meanwhile they can get extra money and kudos pointing at the Democrat Madness in Commiefornia, rather than having to be responsible for actually fixing it. Something they are not prepared to do.

Big Fat Fox New Cheque every week: "Hurr durr, Socialism DoEsN't Work! I'm so SaD to see what's happening in California.." They love it.

I leave in a beach town / city that is staunchly conservative (John Wayne country) so I admit that my anecdotal exposure to the rest of the state is virtually non existent. So Im cognizant of my bias. That said, given all I saw, the conversations I had and over heard, I find it very hard to believe that Gov Gruesom carried this county 2/1.

Lets see what retribution he has in store for having dragged through the mud. He definitely wont be kinder / gentler to the plebs after this.

I know there were a lot alt-lite people cheerleading this recall effort but did they actually think they had a chance?

The hard truth that republicans will not accept is that running a woman or a minority will depress your only reliable voting bloc, white men. My state is about to run a black dude for governor on the republican ticket and he will lose to the woman currently holding office.

If a white man wont vote for a black man with the right policy stances simply because of race then he deserves what he gets.

If nothing else this recall effort did accomplish a reprieve from Gruesoms iron handed-ness. Things have been relatively "normal" here since March.

Elections and Democracy died September 11, 2001.
I had a rather funny idea: Conspiracy theory trivia.

1. How many buildings in NYC fell on September 11th, 2001?
2. Who was Lon Horiuchi's pro-bono lawyer? Hint: he plays the bagpipes
3. Two Part Question!!! How far did into the atmosphere did Jeff Bezos' rocket go? How far away is the moon?
