Yep. He wasn't in a self-defense situation, she wasn't coming at him with anything that would legally be considered potentially deadly force, and NJ doesn't have a "stand your ground" law anyway.

I'm no legal expert, but it looks like to me he's facing stern criminal charges no matter what - aggravated assault with serious bodily injury even if everything works out for the best, and manslaughter for the worst.

Sorry to say, I have little sympathy for him, and he deserves to do time regardless of the fact that she hit first. I'd take the plea bargain and hope to get out in couple years. His conscience, assuming he has one, will be punishment enough.

Something as simple as a ring on her hand could've ripped his face up; it doesn't take much force to do permanent damage when that force is concentrated in a tiny area. Self defense isn't only for when someone is using deadly force. There is no obligation to risk permanent injury by taking a hit without defending yourself.

It's irrelevant what you or I think, the only thing that's relevant is what the judicial system thinks. And I don't believe they'll agree.

Pro tip: if some guy pops you one in a bar, and you hit him back fracturing his skull, when it was clear to all observers that you did have the option to eject after he threw the first punch, well...that's not "self defense." That's called "fighting", which is illegal.

Maybe you'll be able to get off on a self-defense defense in that situation, and maybe not. But it will be primarily up to the lawyers, the judge, and the jury. You won't have a lot of say in the matter.

Going MMA takedown on drunk guys (or girls) who throw punches and then expecting the explanation "I was just defending myself" to let you off the hook is an extremely dangerous road to take. In most jurisdictions self-defense is pretty narrowly defined; I see that you have your own notion of what it is, but I'm just saying there is absolutely no guarantee the criminal justice folks are going to concur.

Fuck white knights, seriously. I think they're actually worse than feminists in many ways. Feminists don't usually knowingly betray their gender because they're too thick to understand the implications of their choices and pet causes for other women. Re the Emily Rand situation, no one would give a fuck if a quite tall 130lb skinny as hell guy punched a 250lb college linebacker and got smashed into oblivion in return.

The guy will probably face charges, but from a utilitarian perspective, her having permanent brain damage will cause a fair few women to seriously reconsider the sort of entitlement that could get them smacked down in public.

As many of you guys know, I've been living in Hawaii for nearly 5 months now and blah blah.

And I'm finally starting to grasp the depth of you guys's revolt over these girls.

It is with compassionate grief that I say you guys have it really rough.

Even the bitchiest of bitches back home in Brazil would never treat me the way I've been treated here. I can actually "feel" these girls' aggressiveness, their deeply disturbed natures, their resenftulness and their spoilt demeanors. An honest, open, mature human interaction as it is seems impossible.

I am gradually realising that the "corrupted American girl" is more the rule than the exception. And there are powerful institutions that back up, encourage and help perpatuate this deep cultural crisis.

What went wrong, America?

Why such a nation with beautiful cultural heritage (just think of the hippies, the beats, rock and roll...) degrade to such point?

Cultural engineering, undermining social norms and leading to dysfunctional behavior and unhapiness, while being sophisticated enough to be transparent, passing as an organic, progressive form of liberation.

Hippies, the concept of the "teenager" and feminism in general were all concepts designed to disrupt the social order, going back to Bernays' "freedom torch" ad campaign for big tobacco nearly a hundred years ago to get women to smoke by associating the act as a form of modern empowerment.

Hippies were introduced in the 1960s to control and degrade the large Boomer generation, which the social engineers realized early on was going to be a very influential generation. It was through them that they've destroyed Christianity in the West, that was probably the most successful social engineering project of all time, as that generation was a cultural transformational pivot.

The most brilliant aspect of those forms of social control is that they get the subjects to think they are rebelling and being mavericks when in fact they are being sheepish, packing the process of "tuning out" and drugging up as liberating when in fact it is destructive, dulling their minds and getting them to become disengaged from society and the political process. Pretty much the way Aldous Huxley drew it up in "Brave New World", in this sense he was a lot better of a futurist than Orwell.

"Teen" culture incidentally started a decade earlier, with rock'n roll and films like "Rebel Without a Cause". They started working on boomers a decade earlier before they became adults, just like Disney starts with Hannah Montana millennial girls then turns them into twerking sluts from hell.
