I just see this pod as speeding up the acceptance of casual alcoholism. Somewhat akin to the spread of e-cigs, which make it acceptable (or even cool) to be a nicotine addict. The release of these pods is somewhat disconcerting.
We've gotten to a point in the modern world where very few people have any substantial purpose that they can state when asked. The vast majority of 1st world inhabitants are stuck in 9-5s, their only glimmer of hope being the drink they can take after work. I think it's fair to say that office work encourages casual alcoholism, at best. How else would you anesthetize yourself? Drinking is the only thing that keeps a lot of these people alive.
As for the product mentioned: It's alcohol - in a pod! The kick of this is that it makes it way easier to drink, and provides infinitely more stealth than a bottle/flask. Drinking was already easy as it was, this just takes it to the next level. This does not bode well for the general populice, expect to see an uptick in AA attendees post-release.
