The sunglass attachment makes them look less sci-fi. I could see some chicks wearing it to seem cool, like all those fake nerdy chicks who rock obscure cartoon shirts.

I would hate to have a conversation with someone wearing it. If you thought a girl who leaves her phone out while talking to you was bad, this will be ten times worse. Every time they get a text, their eye will dart around and they'll completely miss what you're saying.

But since there is no cool factor, and it would mess up a girl's hair, I don't think it will get popular. People pay thousands of dollars to get ride of glasses with lasik. I doubt they will wear voluntarily wear this full time just to shoot some video. In other words, it won't be as popular as the smart phone. It will be mostly used by those who are in the GoPro camera market.

Not sure about this. Imagine Google partnering with Gucci, Fendi, Louis Vuitton to release designer Google Glass. It might even be worse...combining high end chick-crack fashion with chick-crack attention whoring.

The prospect is enough to make my skin crawl.

In private Google Glass will be awesome to prevent any accusation of false rape!

Win/Win, prevent a false rape charge and record your notch for record keeping!

Are you sure? Because these fit in easily with glasses, and glasses are in right now. Girls are even wearing frames just for the fashion.

Then again, what will scare them off is how "techy" this is. It's not bubbly and intuitive like an iPhone.

It looks like he just said that smartphones are emasculating so he could hype up Google glass. I guess that's basically his job but I don't see how Glass is any less emasculating.

I don't see how this "Glass" would be less emasculating than smartphones. Plus I don't think smartphones are emasculating, they just amplify ADHD for both genders.

The shit is so far of the rails. You Tech heads need to draw a line - The chip implants are already in the pipeline. New Tech has nothing to do with making life easier or things more convenient. New tech is simply about sourcing your data and patterns, instil soft (and hard) control in your decision process and shill you for money via Advertisers. I recently became frustrated because I was forced after a good 3 years to switch my Debit card to the new ones with RFID chips in them. These RFID chips in time will project your spending patterns to advertisers and media tech and create cohesive patterns in which to tailor advertisements to you. The Bank tells me its more secure and with an encrypted chip, but this is not true as these new cards have even more security flaws and with the "added" protection Banks now have less liability if things go wrong. That is one example where New-Tech is shill'd as making things more convenience but just ends up being more of a mess and does nothing other then help to build a digital avatar of you for eventual profit.

Google's mission statement in simple terms: Make technology so fluid and cohesive so people can't escape advertisements and we can rape massive profits via AdSense.

Evreything Google does is basically to come to that end goal. They want a complete technology monopoly and the consolidates things so that that you literally can't escape advertisements no matter where you are.

There's a great show in Britain called Black Mirror, well there are 3 eps per series/seasons, so far there have been 2. It's basically a fictional, but bleak dystopian look at the future. It's fucking excellent. One episode called 'The Entire History of You' is a bit like what you said. Robert Downey Jr has optioned to make it into a feature film I think. The show is called 'Black Mirror', because monitors/TV's/Smartphone screens are exactly that.

How many UK guys have seen it?

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror and Screen Wipe. Actually the current series has just finished; episode 3 was Waldo, episode 1 was the ginger lovebot, and episode 2 was the punishment camp. In general I found the second series better written than the first, but not quite as punchy or controversial (ep1 series1 had the British Prime Minister fucking a pig).

This is just a first step. Of course the crudeness of the device will prevent it from becoming mainstream. But worldwide, a million people will buy them and use them, generating feedback.

In the foreseeable future, you will have lenses that project the video directly on your retina. No one will see it. You can direct it with your mind, the technology for that is being developed rapidly.

Think: schedule. Your planning for the next week will pop up on the ride side of your vision. You see your appointments and can add one. You can see someone's profile and video-call them, with the video being projected in your vision. This is pretty sick. Is it good? Partially. It can be very bad. But it will definitely be interesting.

What are you guys all moaning about? This is going to be the best thing ever! I just got a smartphone two days ago... I've been carrying an old 99 cellphone for ages now... I had no friggin idea how cool these smartphones were.

I have a GPS, Camcorder, Camera, Document Scanner, MP3 Player, Video Player, Gaming Device, Clock, Weather, Txt messager, Flashlight, Browser, Voice Recorder, Translator, WEB MD, Pharmacy, PDF Reader, Calculator, Agenda, Gallery, Calender, Dictionary, Office, News updates and a PHONE... all in one package.

This thing is simply amazing, and I only paid 30 bucks for the whole thing. I mean its faster than the laptop I had before this one. I've been out of the loop for about 10 years or so but I would have killed for one of these back in College, they are friggin excellent. I feel like I'm in Star Trek carrying one of these things around. I have an app where I ask the computer a question...like any general knowledge question, and it friggin responds... then if I need to translate something to Chinese, I speak in English and it says the Chinese instantly, its fvckin awesome.

Now with the Augmented Reality stuff coming out, this stuff can really be taken to the next level. Create way cool videogames, true virtual reality headsets... Put these in classrooms everywhere...or who needs a classroom anyway? Attend college just by putting one on and hooking up to wifi. The possibilities for this technology are fantastic... I'm getting one as soon as they come out.

Think about this for pickin up chicks... you could overlay an avatar of a super hot babe over the fat blob you are walking with, it would be a real game changer. :D

Now for disabled people in wheelchairs that can only move their head, this is great... I'm really looking forward to this.

Take a look at this augmented reality again...its unreal.

want toys for your kid, stick some glasses on him and they appear right in front of him. Run around outside with your friends playing Call of Duty instead of stuck looking at a TV screen... imagine playing laser tag outside without a gun or anything, except that you can change your friend into an alien or robot and your hand into a gun... this will make playing outside REALLY awesome. Think about virtual nightclubs just by slipping on the glasses... want to go on a date? Put your glasses on and go anywhere with your date from the comfort of your own home. Want to see your kids recital but you are stuck at the office 1000 miles away, turn this thing on. Want to see what the astronauts see when they look out at Mars? Turn on the live feed. It'll be great, so much potential. This is bringing Johnny Neumonic, Shadowrun, The Matrix...all of this stuff into the now.

This will be HUGE in China.

Yeah I really liked the Punishment Camp one, and from the first series I liked the 2nd and 3rd episodes best. Every episode was good, however I thought the Waldo one was definitely the worst of the bunch, IMO. The 2nd ep of the 1st series was utterly dystopian and made me feel ill in a way!

The military will love this!!! Imagine a Marine infantry platoon in Helmand, Afghanistan. A couple of small quadcopter drones flying some 50 meters overhead, equipped with infrared cameras. Something like this:

Suddenly, we have contact with the enemy, the Marines take rounds, fire back. One of the Marines shouts:

"Google Glass, where are the Taliban?"

and he sees a coarse map of the terrain, with the drones' infrared cameras providing sharp silhouettes of enemy combatants behind a ditch some 120 meters away. It could get even better:

"Google Glass, please order the Predator drone some 10,000 feet above us to drop a JDAM smart-bomb on those fuckers!"
