Google walkout: staff wants 5 new SJW demands met

I'm starting to suspect that the water supply in the Bay Area has been secretly laced with a substance that exacerbates autism, erodes all reasoning capacity outside of a super-niche technical domain, and disposes otherwise sane people to liberal dementia.

Source: https://searchenginewatch.com/2018/11/01/google-walkout-five-demands

As I write this (1st November) thousands of Google staff in offices around the world have taken to the streets ‘to protest sexual harassment, misconduct, lack of transparency, and a workplace that doesn’t work for everyone,’ according to the movement’s official Twitter feed.

The mass walkout is just the latest public display of employee anger within the search engine. It follows criticism of the company’s involvement with Project Maven back in March, high profile resignations over the leaked Dragonfly project in August, as well as the “Rubingate” scandal uncovered by the New York Times last month which saw key Android developer Andy Rubin given ‘a hero’s farewell’ and a $90m exit package after claims of sexual misconduct were made against him.

It would appear that the treatment of Andy Rubin (amid accusations that Google admitted to be completely credible) has been the key contributing factor to the well-orchestrated global protest.

Employees are united under a banner of five clear demands they want to see implemented within the organization. Let’s unpick these proposed changes one-by-one to get a better understanding of how a multinational company might go about making them and why they are so important for the future of the tech industry.

1. An end to forced arbitration in cases of harassment and discrimination for all current and future employees.
Forced arbitration refers to the policy of companies who only allow their employees the right to solve disputes via processes of internal arbitration.

Many organizations have forced arbitration clauses written into the employment contracts for their staff and while it isn’t a bad route to go down when employees have the option to solve disputes this way (this is known as voluntary arbitration), forced arbitration means that anyone at the company who wants to bring forward a case does not have the right to sue, to make a class action lawsuit, or to appeal – and nor do they have access to federal protections such as The Equal Pay Act of 1963.

A change within Google which would end forced arbitration in cases of harassment and discrimination would signal a fundamental shift in corporate culture which has, to date, more often sought to protect the wellbeing of the company above the wellbeing of those who work on the office floor. It would ensure that any employee who is embarking on the complex and, often, emotionally difficult process of raising a dispute would have the right to raise it outside of the internal arbitration framework if they want to.

There is some advantage for Google itself when internal disputes are resolved by internal arbitration – but this change could certainly help rekindle their image as a progressive organization.

2. A commitment to end pay and opportunity inequity.
Google is still plagued by a significant gender pay gap, as well as a lack of representation of women and people of color at board level. In the US during 2017, the Department of Labor said that its audit of Google revealed ‘systemic compensation disparities against women pretty much across the entire workforce.’ This was followed by UK reports by The Telegraph this year where the company admitted that the mean average salaries for women working at the search engine were 17% lower than the salaries for men.

Of course, the ethical argument for pay and opportunity equity is clear, but there is increasing data which points to the business and economic value of diverse workforces. McKinsey’s illuminating Delivering through diversity report published earlier this year sees companies in the top quartile for gender diversity being 21% more likely to experience above-average profitability than companies in the fourth quartile. The most ethnic and culturally diverse businesses see even better comparative performance, with those in the top quartile earning 33% more than those in the fourth quartile.

3. A publicly disclosed sexual harassment transparency report.
The value of this quite straightforward. It will be useful for employees, future employees and the public to have a full understanding of the levels of harassment which have occurred within Google’s walls. It will also go some way to drawing a line under the problematic nature of the Andy Rubin resignation, and will set the company on a course of renewed transparency.

4. A clear, uniform, globally inclusive process for reporting sexual misconduct safely and anonymously.
This change will further set Google on course to improving the lives of people at all levels of the business. It would improve the rights for victims of harassment and would provide better support as they go through the process of reporting misconduct. It would also give employees more confidence in coming forward should they be unsure whether to report something.

The organizers of the protest sum it up well, ‘The improved process should be accessible to all: full-time employees, temporary employees, vendors, and contractors alike. Accountability, safety and an ability to report unsafe working conditions should not be dictated by employment status.’

The goal to roll this out globally would be a positive step for the tech industry at large – showing that the organization can be united across borders in protecting the rights of all who work there.

5. Elevate the Chief Diversity Officer to answer directly to the CEO and make recommendations directly to the Board of Directors. Appoint an Employee Rep to the Board.
This will be the step which ensures numbers 1-4 are implemented and that there is the necessary accountability in place for these demands going forward. The CDO and Employee Rep will also be in the position to suggest changes in the realm of gender and ethnicity equity.

It has been fascinating to see this protest play out across news sites and social media today. The walkouts in New York, Dublin, London, Berlin, Haifa, Zurich, Tokyo and elsewhere have shown that staff are united in wanting to see the company do better for their current employees, as well as the thousands of gifted programmers, developers, engineers etc. who are looking to the company as a potential source of work in the future.

It also gives Google a clear opportunity to listen to the needs of the very people who make the business work. If they implement these changes, and acknowledge that the actions of their staff are justified, then they can be seen as a leading light for worker’s rights and equity within the tech industry on an international level – a place which is too often seeing such values eroded.

So, to summarize:

1). A large number of women stopped doing their jobs at Google yesterday.

2). At the end of the day there were NO reports of Google, GMail, YouTube, or any other Google product being down or disrupted.

They sure sent a message to the world. Sadly for them, it wasn't the message they intended.

Well the walkouts weren't confined to the Bay Area so there's something wrong with Google entirely. But Google should flex it's muscle and fire everyone who walked out, or reassign them to a window-less office making copies all day long, or pretty much be at the mercy of these idiots every time they want to virtue signal.

This is what I don't understand. These protesters want to take harassment and discrimination claims to civil court, but they don't seem to understand how hard, costly and time consuming these cases would be to litigate. Especially for he-said/she-said cases, or "credible" (vague) accusations.

Do they not understand that the women alleging harassment/discrimination will be under the microscope and Defense lawyers will get psych evaluations, private investigators to dig dirt, bring up sexual history and discredit it her at every turn? That "believe all women" only exists in the media but when it comes down to litigation, it's a scorched earth campaign?

But Google should give them that option and then have their legal team bury them in discovery motions, and subpeona psych evaluations for the women alleging harassment and bring the hammer down on these cases.

What an amazing opportunity to identify and fire all the unproductive, troublemaking employees. They literally self-identified and provided their own cause for dismissal by walking out on the job. A smart CEO who was dealing with an SJW infestation would be wise to encourage a walkout of this type through back channels and then use it as a pretext to fire everyone who participated.

Hire a white woman to oversee diversity. Makes sense. And apparently she hasn't been able to effect any "increase in diversity" even after a year into the job, yet they want her to have more authority than she already does. That's Google for you.

While I shouldn't be surprised this is an existing position at Google, I was surprised that, according to her LinkedIn, that was her title at fucking Intel too, where she previously worked. That got me curious as to how many companies actually have a position like this - turns out, according to the website Black Enterprise, basically every major company you can think of has one.

If that list is accurate, it's an overwhelmingly female (read: useless) position.

I don't understand these SJW kamikazes that make one think that Google is a rape den where you get bent over on your coffee breaks in the janitor closest. Are they trying to imply that sexual misconduct is more rampant at these SJW dens that actively hire Soy-boys and socially weak code monkeys from India? These days, most men are aware that the corporate office is a land mine field and you are best to say nothing even remotely edgy around women. Most men know not to ever have long conversations with women alone in the workplace and to always make sure people around. It all just seems that the SJW kamikaze are just looking to use the biggest fish an force them to be used as an example so they can project thier SJW ideology in attempt to force other workplaces to follow the same lunacy - "hey if Google is doing it, we should as well

They also don't understand the pay-gap also.

"WAHHH Women are paid 17% less than men at Google"

But, no word of the control for tenure, experience, and position. Why should an Admin Assistant get paid the same as a Senior Engineer? You learn it all BS with the wage statistics when they leave out proper details. FOr SJW firms such as Google with money to burn one could expect women if anything are overpaid when you consider they will always take on full benefits with their salary.

You know what else is mind boggling? That all these tech companies are taken over by SJW ideology. You'd think that these companies have name brands and solid revenues and can say no to all this bullshit. Yet somehow they don't.

I also never understood why these companies full of engineers largely think like SJWs. I'm a CS grad and engineer myself, and always considered the #1 aspect to success in this field as being good at logical, critical thinking. The SJW mindset defies logical thinking, yet so many engineers are SJW soyboys. I wonder what happened. Possibly too many betas thinking they can attract females by acting like them?

The software field seems to attract a lot of people who'd traditionally be seen as social misfits. Maybe it is because abnormal minds are often good at computer logic, which is pretty far removed from how normal human thought works. There are plenty of trannies at Google, for example. They are no doubt decent if not excellent engineers. (Source: I have friends who work there)

Still, that doesn't explain why the people at the top who hold power and purse strings end up going with the flow.

The best explanation I can think of is along the lines of "any organization not explicitly dedicated to conservative goals will become more progressive over time." Don't remember who said that.

Engineers have been typecasts to be herd thinkers. If engineers were outside the box thinkers they would be doing something else. The vast majority of engineers don't rock the boat and have the blinders oin just performing ABC to make sure 123 goes smooth.
Of course, not all, but vast majority have the head in the same which makes them easy mailable to adopt SJW nonsense.

More or less the Turkish coup d'état method (switch out firing with executing).

There's guys in two major fields that women don't want to fuck: programmers and academics. These are the two areas where we are seeing SJWs build up.

They may be fairly well paid, but society generally treats them both as a joke, a waste, with disgust etc.

These guys look towards the other areas of endeavour: finance, marketing, management etc. and they see a lot of those guys have a lot more of what they want.

These guys are pissed off with what people really value and that's why they are so hell bent of fucking everything up.

The whole left is now a shake down where they are trying to throw every distribution upside down so the unlucky, the lazy and the uniformed can get a slice for nothing: diversity, people of colour, fat positivity, feminism, LGBTQ+. People are in those to feel good about themselves and to get free stuff. Just the free stuff has moved more towards higher status and more opportunities for upper middle class faggots and post-wall jezebels.

***

On critical thinking. Coming up with the best system to optimise search queries down to the level of hard disk RPMs - that needs logic. There isn't any reason why any trained person would have a problem making sense of that.

But accepting why no one wants to fuck Raj, the gender-queer database engineer from Bhopal, ever OR why no one who works at Google wants to live in South Central - then emotions come in.

Emotions shut down logic and reality gets replaced with what the SJW wants it to be.

But of course, as lefties of the past shirked their responsabilites in the redistribution of wealth, there isn't a huge amount of Google employees who are out wifing up the morbidly obese or trannies. By and large their SJWing is all about hiding what they really think with nice words and leaving other to pick up the bill.

You have four days.

My theory, borne of years of observation:

These were nerds who didn't date a lot in high school and college, so they didn't get a crash course in reality when it came to females. They didn't have to deal with the irrationality, the breakups, and all the unpleasant surprises that happen in even the best relationships.

Instead, their perceptions of women came from mass media, especially sci-fi. What they got was an idealized vision of what women were. And it's worse if their perception of women came from alternative media. Because then they get a side dish of feminist propaganda with the media's worship of women.

This explains why they buy the SJW party line and why they're the first ones hit with sexual harassment claims.

Tl;dr: Most of us learn by 18 that girls are not actually Topanga from "Boy Meets World." These guys don't learn until they get a pink slip or a court summons at age 30.

Computer programming is basically THE field for beta types. No physical skills involved, minimal human interaction involved, etc, etc. I mean think of the guys from your school who were the "computer nerds" and think if any of them were the ones getting girls in high school?

Basically an entire industry full of beta cucks with no frame in any situation. There's a reason the venture capitalists end up with such ideal terms on the IPO of these companies as well, put an alpha in the room and he dictates the terms.

Look at guys like Zuckerberg, Gates, Bezos, Brin and Page. Do any of them strike you as anything but beta?

An industry with ridiculous amounts of money and very little strong male influence is prime for the picking of ravenous feminists.

Google's management caving in on these demands leads to a very obvious corollary. That is, Google will not be successful in any of its "moonshot" projects such as self-driving cars. I just finished the book "Autonomy" that was written by a former R&D manager at GM. This author is very convinced that self-driving cars are just around the corner. He is also a consultant to Waymo, which is Google's self-driving car division. I believe Waymo may or may not succeed in the development of autonomous automobiles, but ONLY IF Waymo is strictly quarantined off from the parent company Google and its toxic SJW infested corporate culture. If not, all bets are off.

Do note that Google sold Boston Dynamics (that robot company that made the humanoid robot that can jump and do back flips) to a Japanese company a couple of years ago. I consider this a harbinger of Google's likely future.
