VvxcI am ready to make some changes to the Orthodox section on the forum, to give it its category with multiple subforums. What are your thoughts on how we can strengthen and encouraged Orthodox discussion on RVF?
If I have not been delicate, or if I was brash on that topic, forgive me, brothers. These things are difficult to discuss without falling into errors on the right, or supercorrectness, as Fr. Seraphim Rose said.I wanted to share some guidelines for discussions concerning active Orthodox clergy (i.e. clergy in the Eastern Orthodox Church).
-We have to use caution to not turn this subforum into a gossip corner where we critique and nitpick, even if we have valid concerns.
-Be very thoughtful before posting any critique on active clergy. Remember that this forum is public.
-Do not share any private knowledge or unsourced suspicions that a priest has done something incorrect or non-Orthodox, whereby his reputation would be hurt (i.e. gossip).
-Do not read into the potential motivations of a priest to try and understand his actions (i.e. mind-read).
-You may comment on public actions and statements on a priest, but from a position of understanding and compassion. Don't be quick to attack out of anger.
-Do not call a priest a "heretic" or "ecumenist" unless that label have been given to him by an ordained member of the Church. Only use adjectives that refer to specific behaviors (e.g. "Concelebrating with the Anglican priest was an ecumenical gesture.")
As this subforum grows, there will be a strong temptation to break these guidelines. It's okay to disagree with opinions and actions of clergy, but be respectful and delicate when doing so.
Hi Roosh and All.
I am new to Orthodoxy and to this forum as I joined the Orthodox Church in 2019.
Due to family health issues, I may be re-locating to the Western Pennsylvania area and my primary objective for finding a place to live (aside from being outside of Allegheny County) is being close to an Orthodox Church.
Does anyone have any recommendations on an Orthodox Church in the Western Pennsylvania area?
I'd post in the General Orthodox forum, however it doesn't seem that I have permissions to do that yet.
I've contacted a Monastery in Ellwood City that Fr. Thomas Hopko was affiliated with, as well as the Diocese there, but thought that I would post here as well to see if there was anyone willing to provide input
Thanks in advance and God Bless..
I'd try this resource: https://www.assemblyofbishops.org/directories/parishesHi Roosh and All.

I have been GOC & AOC, mostly due to availability of churches and moving around the country. But after a year of watching liturgy on YouTube from my GOC parish, I transferred to a Serbian OC. If I was Greek, I might of stayed and fought. But I am so happy now. Many of the Serbs I worship with lived through concentration camps/war, and see this current situation for what it is...I agree as well! (first post, long time lurker)
I don't think there should be sub-Orthodox categories for Greek, Russian, Syrian, etc.. We need to honestly not separate ourselves and read about each other's problems. Especially concerning the recent decisions of the Greek Orthodox Church (of which I am a member) and the extremely concerning trajectory of the Patriarch. We all need exposure to these current events; if they are stuck in a sub-category people may just ignore them.
All my blog articles go into a separate subforum. Not sure if this is the right thread, but I want to say that some of Roosh's announcements can be better posted in the Orthodox subforum(s), such as "Demons Can Put Thoughts Into Your Mind" and "Modern Psychiatry is Demonic" as such threads can quickly get derailed into theological debates versus heterodox Christians or even non-Christians/atheists, and I think they'll be better approached as advice for fellow Orthodox young men on how to "take care of their nous," so to speak. I've read members here dismissing logismoi as "religious OCD" or "puritanism." with the implication that it's nothing but paranoia on the part of some Christians.
