Haircuts - How much $$ and how often?

A little more than $4 U.S (150฿) in a local salon in Chiang Mai. Shampoo, 15 minute scalp massage, cut, shampoo again and then style. The pros at the salon are meticulous and it takes close to an hour. Haven't found a place quite as good in Chiang Rai and it's a little more expensive at $5.70 (200฿). A traditional Barber cut can be had for as little as 50฿, but many of the hip barber shops charge 150-250฿.

I don't pay anything. Friend of mine that I hang out with a lot is a barber who's been cutting it for years. So whenever he tells me my hair is too long or do this or that he does it. Scissor cuts the lot. I very rarely use someone else but only when I have no other option and even then I refer to a picture of my barbers work for them to work towards.

$20 plus 5 tip every two weeks or so. I go to a Dominican/Hispanic barbershop in a rough part of town even though I'm white with very fine very straight hair and several cowlicks. I have seen more than one NBA and NFL player in the shop. Been going to this guy for nearly 4 years, by far the best I've had. Lineup and fade can't be beat. He used to be at a local black barbershop chain but opened his own shop last year, and is killing it. Not unusual for all 10 chairs in the shop to be occupied. He actually opened a second location last month. Guy is an immigrant success story

I pay 250 Indian rupees ($5 Canadian) per cut plus beard lining and trimming (what little i have should be kept neat and clean). Ussually go after 2 weeks because of time contraints but am gonna move up to every week cause it doesnt hurt the pockets too much and since haircuts ussually start looking shittier after the first weekish anyway.

Good barber, was surprised after the first cut by looks and price because it cost 1/3 of what i used to pay back home.

Only 150RS ($3) for haircut alone.

Someone was asking about this so I'll just put this out there. If you're looking for different options on buying high-quality clippers, you should take a look at Bowman Supply. I've used these guys before and can vouch for them:

https://bowmanbeauty.com/product-category/clippers-trimmers/

If you don't like to mail-order, you might want to check out Mar-Beck Appliances, which stocks some decent clippers (I don't know if this is a national chain). But a local barber supply house might be better.

Another pet peeve I have is that it's very hard to find really good, old-school barber shop scents. The bay rums, the old Pinaud Clubman, and all of that. I usually keep a few bottles in rotation at home, and I order them from Amazon.

I stuck with it and cut my hair for the 3rd time yesterday.

I used the pictures below as a guide:

tight_taper_long_top.jpg

So very short on the sides, longer but buzzed on the back half of the top, and scissored/textured on the front half.

This is how it turned out:

There's definitely room for improvement.

I went in with the goal of fading the sides and the top, but I kind of liked the contrast and left it like that.

I've been rocking this hairstyle for about 6 weeks. My boss is hilarious and says I look like a faggot.

It definitely draws attention and I think is has been helping me with night game.

For the past few years I had a various vanilla haircuts, which didn't hurt but didn't help either. Two weeks ago had multiple dates lined up and they all commented on it and said they liked it. So I guess I'm doing something right.

$25 with $5 tip. I’m pretty happy.
I go about once every 6 weeks. A little less frequently in winter.
The one time I did highlights like in that pics from newaylook just for fun and to see what it does, it ran close to $100 in today’s dollars. Color is expensive, but very attractive

i screwed 3 long mirrors together to create a folding mirror for the cost of maybe 40$. It has paid itself back in the last couple of months Ive been using it. Although my forehead is larger and slanted than I want it to be so not many hairstyles suit me.

I was never happy with what the barbers did to my hair so I just do it myself now. I used to pay max 20$ when I did go to barbers.

I shave my head last 9 years just myself. I had worse methods, but now I do it like I am standing in front of a mirror and another mirror is behind me and I change angles between those two mirrors.

$20 bucks plus occasional tip to my friend who is a stylist and owns her own salon.

What I get:

Haircut that makes me look good.
Fun conversation :)gay: but actually I do enjoy talking to her. Last time I talked politics and it was damn fun)
Cold beer
Straight razor to the back of the neck
Shampoo/scalp massage

The only downside is she moved. Her salon used to be within walking distance.

Update to this.

I now drive to an old-school barber shop run entirely by barbers of an asian minority. It's SIX dollars plus tip to get my hair cut.

It's only 85-90% as good as previous stylists, but it's WAY fucking faster and incredibly cheap. They also straight razor my neck and I don't have to make an appointment.

The last time I was there, Trump stuff was on the TV and I asked the barber what he thought about him and he said "He says (in broken but understandable English) 'America First' I say America First! I come from country with bad government to live American dream. I am American, America First!"

Did I mention six fucking dollars?

The haircuts on those models look a bit gay or weird/homeless, but it doesn't look as bad on your picture. I think that haircut would look better with hair gel.

I'm a fucking idiot , I should get my hair done more often.
Just went to get my haircut after two months to a ukranian finnochio barber who did an amazing job last time.
Today I had him do my beard as well ,and all for a tenner (eur) guy even patterned the beard with a razor.
Tipped him like last time, dude deserved it.

When I left teh shop, most women that came across me started giggling lustfully.

Its funny because most of the non-chain and/or non-hipster barbers around here are either spanish women or pakistani men but this guy knows his shit and works a lotc heaper (then again he works with what seems to be his family and has a huge customer turnover rate)

I've noticed that a lot of barbers have raised prices, but some may offer cheaper student discounts. With the lockdown, I'm trying to shave my head since no one really cares how ugly a hair cut looks since I'm not leaving the house. Has anyone else gone the shaved head method?

I pay $2 for the haircut, and then pay a $1 tip.

Oh, I forgot to say that I get my haircuts in the Philippines! Lol I generally find better haircuts there, for vastly less money. And I go to a barbershop with only men cutting hair, rather than an American "Supercuts" style place with women who tell me sob stories about their lives to try and get big tips.

I usually go just once a month. My Filipina lady tells the barber how to cut it and monitors things. The poor guy was so nervous the first time he went to work on me! White people from the West are very rare in his part of the Philippines. We always use the same barber, who does a great job.

My lady, once in awhile, goes to a salon for women, with flamingly gay male hair stylists. It is about ten times more expensive than where I go! But that is still very cheap, compared to in the West.

Nice, I want to visit the Phillipines. Do you know if there are any recommended Christian missionary programs in the Phillipines?

You haven't left the house for 3 or 4 months?

Money wasted on barbers and hair products is wasted money in my opinion. Unless you are going bald and need some sort of extra special shampoo to keep to keep your hairline intact for a couple of years more

Where I am right now I pay 50 peso (around 1 - 1.50 USD) per haircut. Only thing you gotta me careful about is the gay and tranny hairdressers trying to grope you whilst cutting your hair. Fortunately I have found a heterosexual hairdresser now

EDIT: haha moving forward beat me to it!
