While not a pure "heavy metal" group, Guns and Roses at their peak was one of the best hard rock bands on the planet. Way more musicality and skill by every member of the band compared to most heavy metal groups. Even their keyboardist was tight. When Axl screamed, it was coming from a real place and not some bullshit performance artist putting on an act.

^ Used to listen to them quite a bit when I was 17 and 18. They're coming back to Australia next year, and I plan on seeing them, provided the promoters or ZOG don't hassle me about getting the vaccine.

Can't imagine that being used in a Hollywood film today.

Type O was one of the greates out there. Peter Steele (minus his playgirl appearance for "female fans" who he later regretted due to probably attracting fags) had a hell of a redemption story. His eventual re-integration to the Catholic Church was quite a story. Songs like "These Three Things talked about abortion, Zionism, and dealing with doubt of Jesus but finding your way back to the Church makes it probably my favorite song by them.

Thanks. I haven't really listened to the last album and didn't pick up on those themes. Shame he didn't stick around to build on this, but maybe he wanted to get stuck into his stint in purgatory and have it done with. One of my favourites of this vein is the troll We Hate Everyone,

Some would say that we're biased
Accusations that we are racist
Well shit, shit, shit comes in all hues: now this means you
'Cause things ain't always like they seem
Like they seem

Another less well known troll,

He came back to the Church before he died. Stopped drinking, whoring ECT ... His last interviews seemed pretty repentant.

This is what the rest of the world learned from. It's quite obvious that the early Norwegian black metal guys got a lot of their style from Chuck Schuldiner, except the fun part of course. My apologies if this has been shared already. The 80's must have been a glorious time to be an adolescent.

Leprosy is as heavy as it gets, period. Chuck was one of those few who had a totally unmistakable sound. You listen to one of his solos or riffs and you instantly know "that's Chuck."
