How foolish of me…

I’ve been living in Japan just shy of 30 years but despite that I was depressingly shocked on Monday, March 13th. This was the day that the Japanese government told everyone that they could stop wearing their masks 24/7. And for some reason I thought that when l left my house Monday morning I would see lots of smiling faces, but no…nothing has changed. The masses remained fully masked and if any of the surveys are true, the masses will continue to mask-up. The mind-hive is fully operational.

I would like to live in Japan one day. I've visited twice, in 2016 and 2018, and am really looking forward to hopefully getting back there this year.

The mask shenanigans puts me off, but not enough to not want to live or visit there. I've come to expect it now from Asians.

Yeah the Japs are heavily on the slavemind. But that was about to be expected right, given the culture? Like mask wearing they did that a lot too, I've seen it from tourists. Against smog, but also when they're sick out of courtesy etc. So yeah it takes 60 days to form a habit, if they've done that consistently for a few years it's gonna be very hard for them to stop it. Cause they all look to one another to stop wearing it before they cross the bridge too. But if no one takes the first step that'll remain in place. There was never a mask mandate though right, it was all voluntary?

Yes, it was all voluntary. And we’re a week into the voluntary mandate being lifted and there is still almost a 100 percent mask wearing rate. The only difference I’ve noticed is there are not as many wearing masks when driving alone…but there are still many who do.

Sounds like a high trust society. I don't think our Asian friends deserve scorn for it. Take me for example.

I know there's a full blown genocide happening in the west against the native population in general. Covid, which is just a small piece of the puzzle, was a politically motivated circus here. Asians went 0 - 100 right away.

Asians probably have little reason to doubt their authorities. Add cultural attitudes towards community, health, elderly on top of that. Obviously they're misguided, or at least I believe they're misguided, but the motivation of these Asian maskers is a lot more sound than the bootlickers we got in the west.

Obviously our actions are going to differ given the absolute difference in worldview.

I’m not sure why you’re so surprised, asians were already wearing mask more often than westerners anyways. It was strange when everyone started wearing mask in the states, because we’ve never done that here before. And we still have people that fight against it here, which is not a surprise.

More disappointed I guess. And while I stopped wearing masks many months ago except for when I’m in the classroom, I was hoping Japan wouldn’t be a brain dead as they are.

Well with Mao, Pol Pot and imperial Japan as history they should be quite aware of gov tyranny. The thing with a high trust society is that it can work 2 ways: if for good it's a very harmonious low conflict society where everyone does their part, when used for bad it becomes a killing machine like the Germans or Japanese, or a very easily moldable society of people towards enslavement.
