How to get a job as a python (or any other language) developer

Nice. I was thinking about doing that cert along with Azure fundamentals. Is your goal to be a cloud engineer?
At this point, I'm just trying to get my foot in the door. Got a friend who's been in the industry for 20+ years and he's been pointing me in this direction. I'd like to get an Azure Fundamentals and GCP Foundational after the next AWS. Right now, I'm having to get my feet wet with Python, GitLab, and PowerShell/Bash.

I've started to get my feet wet with Python. Pretty neat stuff. Not very difficult either.

My friend says a Python job doesn't pay as well and, even though it would be good to get some of it under my belt, I'm better off focusing on becoming well proficient with a shell, particularly Bash.
