Instagram is muscling in on Onlyfans by rolling out a tipping feature. Though Instagram doesn't do hard core porn, this will take away some dollars from Onlyfans, as well as open up a wider market of soft-sluttery to even more young women on the fence about participating.

It's just Instagram, after all, right?

Instagram (FB +0.4%) is broadening a test of a feature made to allow creators with smaller influence on its platform to earn from live streams - an appeal to emerging creators.
The platform's "Badges" feature lets users tip influencers during a stream on Instagram Live. It's similar to features on other live-stream offerings including Twitch (AMZN -0.8%) and TikTok (BDNCE). After a small spring test, the company is rolling it out for more than 50,000 creators as a beta test.
The payments (of $1, $2 or $5) are "a particularly good product for emerging creators," Chief Operating Officer Justin Osofsky tells Business Insider - particularly what are called "nano" or "micro" influencers, those with a sub-Kardashian level of a few thousand or tens of thousands of followers.
And it's payment directly for content rather than for advertising a brand or product. One lifestyle coach said that in a week of using the feature she drew $1,000 in earnings.
It's definitely an investment-mode offering for Instagram for now: It's not keeping any of the money from Badges at the moment, giving 100% of its share to the creators. "Over time as we scale the products, we do anticipate coming up with the right business model, but a lot of this will be influenced by what we learned in the test."
But Apple (AAPL -0.7%) and Google (GOOG +1%, GOOGL +1%) will still be taking their 30% cut, depending on the user's app platform.

That's a sobering development, especially when you consider that the mother of invention will now be putting in double time on rolling out sex robots and convincing virtual reality relationships like what was in Bladerunner 2049.

I've been thinking a lot lately about to what extent population reduction is an organized plan vs. how much it's just an end result of developments like this. Probably a little from column A, a little from column B.

I always wondered how the Jezebel of revelation rose to power and how the woman and the beast later on would do the same globally. This now makes it real.

And she could do it all without actually servicing a single client. Likes used to be free, but with tipping involved we'll see just how bad the simping is - and if Onlyfans is any indication, it'll be worse than we think. The article calls this the beta test - that author probably has no idea how accurate a word that is.

I agree that most of them won't make serious bank. Those that do, they'll just blow it all on shoes or other stupid shit and be washed up by and bitter within a couple of years past their prime.

In the start of revelation there was an actual woman named Jezebel that had become the leader of a church and controlled it through sexual immortality. That was pre electricity and internet! The pope just endorsed homosexuality, how many more generations would it for the pope to be some white vinyl clad stripper that does live streamed porn for mass and calls the tips tithes? Then signed up women under her to be "Temple Prostitutes"...its happened before, why couldn't it happen again?

The enablers of this behavior must be punished, for without the limp-wristed teams of cubicle drones working around the clock on this with constant pressure from their hook-nosed financiers, this abominable practice would never have come into existence.

This will do well, unfortunately. Losers will be tipping $1-5 to ever attention-whore on there. Even a nobody with 5,000 followers.. if just 10% of those tip $5 each month, that's $2,500. Enough to live on in many parts of the world.

Never used Instagram, never will.

too slow to edit, but we can get even more modern than the bible. Church corruption in the pre reformation era had allegations of cardinals using convents as brothels and fleecing the population into believing that they could buy their relatives way out of purgatory. Adding twerking to the liturgy really isn't that inconceivable during a time of satanic corruption.

Catholics, don't think I'm singling you out, we protestants already have denominations with gay and women ministers, that rainbow scarf and the Trayvon Martin eucharist.

I'm thinking it's porn addicts that can't get off anymore unless they pay. It doesn't make any sense otherwise, why would someone pay for something that's free? It has to be the act of giving money that makes them happy.

They are looking for attention, connection.

These guys who have dropped $20k on streams. That's the closest those guys will get to giving a girl an orgasm. Simping is a mechanism used by guys to try and initiate a relationship.

There was also a study that found that people feel more connected to music they buy, rather than downloaded for free. It's the same here.

I always though women were weak minded but there seems to be men that are just as weak, and they don't have the beauty, so they really offer nothing. A loose woman becomes a 10 to them.

These men wouldn't be good husbands or community members, yet they exist. We need another 1000 years of Christianity, eventually we have to get to the point where only moral people exist.

It's psychological mostly, because of the limited and hidden access people want it more. Only Fans tapped into the lizard part of the brain for men.

You can't think of this logically because why would a guy spend $20 per month to see videos and pictures of a porn star they can get for free? It is obviously something else. What OF does is sell access. You get the dopamine for access to something "hidden" as well as the ability to comment and chat with the OF girl who is now obligated to interact with her fans to maintain her subscription base.
