I've been a white-collar nomad in the semiconductor industry ever since 2006, when I earned my doctorate in physics. I went where the jobs were, worked for good salaries, and stacked the cash. So far, I've earned enough to not have to work for the next 20 years (Lord willing), and invested it in dividend stocks. So here I am, 14 months after leaving my last job, wondering what to do. Most important detail to understand my situation is this: Exactly 1 year ago to the day, I went to my first Catholic mass. Long story short, I converted to Catholicism and have been trying to practice my faith daily ever since my first mass. I can identify with ALL the hardships and tribulations that RooshV talks about. I pray multiple times daily. Go to mass almost every day. Have been struggling with various spiritual issues. What is the bottom line? The "tl;dr"? In my humble opinion it is this - you'd better be praying daily. If you do, your discernement and wisdom will be enhanced by God's grace. And in fact, I pray SPECIFICALLY for His grace in discernment of what I should do. In my particular case, I think our Lord has narrowed down my options to just 2. And I need to be on my knees frequently in the coming days and weeks, to understand what HE wants for me. Then I need to accept my orders and go forth. Peace to all my Christian brothers.
