[QUOTE="augustchambers, post: 1558707, member: 24413"] There is a third option...stay and FIGHT. We are not commanded to lay down and die by default. Self preservation is not evil. "Thou shall not kill" has an equal and opposite positive: "Thou shall preserve life"-- and that includes your own life. He who does not have a sword, let him sell his cloak and buy one...for you will have trouble in this world. Two of the Lord's disciples were armed, and if anyone was on a non-violent mission, it was Jesus. The question of fighting or laying down my life without conflict is something I have spent a lot of time on in prayer. After quite a bit of prayer, reading and meditation, I believe we've been programmed (Christians especially) to be pacifists. If Christians understood they had not only a right, but a responsibility to protect the innocents, fight off tyranny and evil-- the world would look different..then again, very few "Christians" have an intimate relationship with Jesus... I highly suggest reading [HEADING=2]The Magdeburg Confession: 13th of April 1550 [/HEADING] The Magdeburg Confession is the first known document in the history of man to formally set forth the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates.
