Though I'm not crazy about the tie choice, and there's no pocket square.

I love the black and purple combo, this is of the looks I rock constantly for business and going out.

one of my favorite going out suits is a white with real fine black pinstripes that I would wear with a purple shirt and then have a black and white checkered pocket square puffed out. Gets mad haters.

Just dont let some sloshed lizard spill her drink on you

Should a tan person only get certain color suits? I've always liked the classic look aka Goodfellas style. Just plain and dark. Do they make suits that are better for warm weather?

Ugslayer - does that seller have other color suits? I don't know if that will look good on my caramel skin...

Yeah I need help with this too, my skin tone is dark brown. The only suit I own (got it off the rack but I had it tailored) is black with pinstripes. Anybody have any suggestions?

It will be great when the day comes when Houston and P-Dog and Torontokid and the rest start rocking suits and killing nightspots.

It's not even a joke the kind of response you get in nightclubs when you're rocking a suit. It's like the rest of the guys do not even exist when you walk in suited down.

Don't know if it's real sad or real funny that guys spend hours figuring out the right text message to send or whether to pay for a drink or not or whether to "neg" or not, while all this BS can be simply bypassed by putting on a suit. For real. Try it.

G, props to your wisdom, as always.

Very true.

If guys followed even 10% of what is in The G Manifesto, the whole "game industry" would be belly up within a week.

I co-sign this. With one caveat that hopefully doesn't go up in storms. Suited up at age 21-23 doesn't work IMHO. When staying in Copacabana palace people thought I was a spoiled brat (luckily I earned it all), anyway,
as soon as girls believe you are in your late 20's go get a custom suit. Man custom is 400x better than off the rack... Rarely do u see dudes with an exact fit off rack so spend the extra cash to get it at least tailored... Custom is still better.

Note if young get in shape and get v-necks, again look in the mirror "would I fuck this guy". Answer should be hell yes

Agreed 100%.

Suited Down is for the older set (or depends on how old you look).

I didn't start going Suited till age 27 or so.

I'm in my early twenties, and I have a babyface which will probably stick with me until my late thirties. I will never be able to grow a full beard (just genetics). Maybe I should just start rockin it now.

How congruent to the suit do you have to be? I may try this in eastern europe, latin america, or southeast asia....they seem more traditional over there (plus I just want to gtfo the united states) Is the suit better outside of america?

I saw a guy in a suit today in a coffee shop...a short asian dude. This one girl was all over him, asking him questions, and facing him the whole time while he was turned sort of away. He was sitting at a different table from her.

Before she left, she was asking for his phone number....the guy didn't even seem interested. Then she handed him her card. I could tell she was very interested in this dude, which you usually don't see during the day.

It could be the fact the guy has some good position at a company, or has some sort of status, which is probably why he was wearing a suit, and had to be somewhere shortly.

Can I just sit in a coffee shop wearing a suit, and if the girl asks why, just say I enjoy it?

Even just going to a bar in a suit seems over the top. There are a few places in my town where I imagine one could pull it off.

Usually, you can never go wrong with black, navy blue and light gray no matter what your skin color. Although if I had to pick just one shade, it'd be black without any question. But a LOT depends on the fitting as well.

If you still have doubts, I'd say you should goto a store and try out a few shades to see what looks best on you, perhaps take self pics to compare later on.

Of course, you can do whatever you want.

Where do you live?

These suit questions are amazing (not blaming you, I am blaming society).

Suits are what Men are supposed to wear.

The kind of questions you get on here almost seem like guys would be asking about dresses.

Rurik, Im 25 and look young as well. Just the other day I was at a function where I got asked how old I was several times. The running average was just shy 20.

The other day I was suited up walking downtown in my nearest city going to eat lunch with my girlfriend. I got chatted up at a coffee shop while waiting for my girl to get on her lunch break. My girlfriends gay boss also saw us together and asked her "who was that guy you were with at lunch? He was absolutely stunning."

I was a party with my girl suited. Her best friend came up and starting playing with my pocket square and telling me my cologne smelled awesome. She damn near lost it when I pulled my flask out and poured myself a drink, saying I reminded her of that guy in White Collar (which then started a conversation between my girl and her about how hot that guy was). She came over to our place and was tipsy and talking to my girlfriend about the way she shaves her pussy. I got her to show us and was going to try to work some threesome game, but her boyfriend called and was all jealous and caused so much problems she went home.

I walked into an office building and the receptionist comment and how much she loved my purple shirt. She loved it enough to comment again on my out and even call another receptionist over to look at my shirt.

So young guy suit game works.

The younger guy suit game seems to have some problems in congruency. Most people assume your trying too hard and classify you a righteous prick.

You will always get asked why you are dressed up, in one form or another. Its like rolling out in a new Murcielago, you are so out of the norm that people are going to ask a question to validate why you own such an expensive car. "What do you for a living" they will most likely ask.

"Why are you are all dressed up" is a form of shit test. Game on as usual. I always asnwer with a cocky response, and then tell them I just got back from meeting with an attorney.

Then the "what do you do for a living" question normally comes up, and now your into a conversation where you got approached, you have the higher value, and she is already asking you personal questions...the number isn't that much harder to pull.

I busted out a data sheet a while back about a night of hitting the town while suited up, check it out.

My night out case study: http://www.rooshvforum.com/thread-10983.html?highlight=testing+the+suit

I didn't feel comfortable at all at first. But you get used to it. Bring some friends out. Sometimes I convince my friends to all suit up, we hit a dive bar and pretend were rich, and we come up with the stupidest things to tell people as to how we made our fortunes. My favorite one so far "I'm independently wealthy, a trust fund baby actually. You know those strips on the side of the highways that make that horrendous sound if your drive over them, you know to wake up people that fall asleep? The rumble strips? Yeah my uncle designed those when he was a kid and the family has been living like cake since. We call him Uncle Rumble"

If you aren't 25+
what do you think about suit jackets and jeans/slacks

Now that I got money..Im gonna get a tailored suit back in the states(cheaper than doing it on the euro) in a couple weeks
But for the last months, Ive been mixing in a fitted suit jacket for a while.

I feel like it gives me a priority when I get around.
I personally think in my case..people would assume im a spoiled rich kid if i wore a tailored suit.

*If you live in a rich city...is it bad to look like a spoiled rich kid?
Hamburg is full of trust funders
but to be honest..I don't see alot of young guys doing suits

Ps. Anyone familiar with KG fashions.
Its pretty much the only big suit place i know in my next city
I've been told to go for an italian/slim fit/cut since im a slim guy

I'm gonna have to reread all the suit stuff on the forum when I get stateside again

I was out with a mate, both suited up. We had some good responses, especially an American tourist chick, but I just didn't feel to comfortable. Probably because it's a cheap untailored one...

dark jeans, vneck + jacket w/ pocket square looks good though and also feels great.

What about suit w/ vneck instead of shirt? Looks actually quite good, but maybe its a big no?

I did a quick search, and it seems that black is really only for formal wear, or a funeral.

Personally, I disagree with this, but that is neither here nor there.

Well, I was just going by what the traditional rules for wearing black is. From reading around a little, and going over a few pages of that thread I posted, not wearing black outside of formal situations has been a sartorial rule for awhile. I believe it originated around the 1930's.

Does the rule really matter? No. I just find it helpful to know some of these rules because I am a newb to suits. As I have said before, I am a 20 year old guy. My experience with suits is low, so knowing a couple of these rules is helpful when buying a suit. Personally, I am going to start out with the safe choices like charcoal and navy. After I have had a few years of experience with buying suits, I will expand to black to add a bit of flair to my style, but for now I am going to follow the old (and long forgotten by many) rules.

Edit: I will say though, in my last post on this thread. I did make the mistake of posting suits that I like instead of the ones that speakeasy was looking for.

I'm in the anti-black suit crowd. With the exception of going to a funeral or driving a limo, I can't think of any situation where a charcoal grey suit wouldn't be preferable to black. I'm just not a big fan of black during the day and at night charcoal grey looks just about the same.

Also, be careful with the bargain suits. They may look good, but are probably not made very well. If it's something you're going to wear once a month out to a lounge, it may not be a big deal. If you plan to give it regular wear, it's almost always better to find a decent brand and decent cut. It will last a lot longer.

Any experience with the budget suit like the one I posted from ebay?

^^^ Yes. Grey is my favorite, but the Black Suit/Black shirt combo should be a staple. Simple and elegant. If I can't figure out something else, I rock black. The problem with it is that your jacket better fit perfectly. Not for beginners. If it doesn't fit right, or the material is cheap, someone's going to ask you to take them to the airport.

I was re-arranging my closet and found the suit I wear to funerals. I don't know much about suits. I have a bright blue pocket square, how would that look with the black and red color scheme? Is a tie necessary? What about the shoes? I have another pair that look similar to these

I feel good wearing it. I think it looks good, but, I could use some opinions.

How is this suit working out for you?

Let's get a little update.
