I came up with a funny, and perhaps accurate, analogy for postmodernism. I'm curious if this makes sense, as I am trying to get a better grasp of this ideology (so I can critique it better, of course):
If you were to give a child a coloring book, you'd tell them to color inside the lines. Naturally, one has to color inside the lines. How else can you create a beautiful picture?
A postmodernist would say that there is no need to color inside the lines. The lines are in fact a socially constructed concept that limit our creative faculties. Therefore, we should be able to color wherever the hell we want!
What ends up happening though is that instead of a pretty picture, you get a big blob of nothingness. But the postmodernist will say that art and beauty are subjective, and that we must respect all kinds of art.

Curious if this makes sense. If not, please feel free to share your humurous analogies.
