Now I’m laughing at you for filtering the Church Fathers through a guy who spent most of his life as an active homosexual occultist in an attempt to convict St. Thomas of heresy. If only you understood how ridiculous it is to attempt to convict St. Thomas of heresy by wheeling in Eugene Rose. Wheeling in Eugene “toll houses” Rose’s ROCOR doctrines and anathemas to “refute” St. Thomas Aquinas is a self-own.

Has Dyer ever said where he received his training in Thomism that would qualify his oft mentioned claim of being “a Thomist for 10 years”? I suspect it’s the commie fags he learned “philosophy” from “when he was in grad school”.

Can someone provide the numbers for me on all the scholastics and Thomists defecting to atheism? I'm told this is a thing. Where are they? The internet pioneer of that asinine claim Joseph Farrell (pioneer of internet Eastern “Orthodoxy” and the Giza death star) has defected to deist perennial traditionalism as have many of his acolytes and left Dyer holding the bag, for now. He may follow their lead. James Kelley, the Farrellite who converted Jay Dyer to “Orthodoxy” discards the Christian doctrine on the eternal soul for pagan divinized matter and wants to replace “Greek corruption of Christianity” with “ur-tradition” Hindu/tantra/yoga corruptions under “Indo-European” rubric. Meanwhile, Jay Dyer is presently shacked up with Jamie Henshaw, a Jewish occultist divorcée (Freeman Fly’s ex-wife). Seriously, look it up. You can’t make this stuff up!

Farrell, btw, taught at St. Tikhon’s Seminary. They publish his work: https://issuu.com/sainttikhons/docs/2013_tikhonaire_complete__reduced_
He has been an apostate for decades. He claims the great pyramid of Giza is an intergalactic weapon, and stranger than that. Actually, in his asinine theorizing, Farrell connects Aztec human sacrifice with Catholic theology calling it, “a cold-bloodedness that lies just hidden beneath the surface language of piety.” He teaches errors that Orthobros accept as dogmas of their apostate web-religion. The evidence suggests Farrell was in disinfo/destabilize land the entire time and, at best, only LARPing as “Orthodox”you strip away the changing costumes and props, a constant anti-Christendom polemic remains. I view it as Critical Theory for sci fi nerds.

If you’re looking for someone to hand everything you’re looking for on a silver platter and you just sit back and watch and listen (as Dyer does), you’re going to find out the hard way that is not the way to learn theology, philosophy and geopolitics. God willing, one day you people will be grown up and look back on your attempts to “refute” Sts. Augustine, Aquinas, Anselm, Catholicism and the West with the scribblings of cranks like Farrell, Dyer and Eugene Rose for the extreme gullibility and juvenile megalomania that it is.

The fact that so many autistic crazies will spend all day writing rage-filled screeds about Dyer (and Orthodoxy, since there's substantial overlap in crazyposting) is a leading indicator he's doing something right. You don't take flak unless you're over the target.

He's certainly not beyond critique, but come on. The hatedom theatrics are just a bit surreal.

All of Jay Dyer’s debates sound like this to me:

Dyer: "Okay so the presuppositional argument is (blah blah blah) and there are presuppositions that (blah blah blah.) Now if you take the presupposition (blah blah blah) then you are forced to (blah blah blah) which has to occur based on that presupposational argument (blah blah blah.)

TWO HOURS LATER…

Dyer: "And that is why one has to take that presupposition in order for it to make sense."

[Some debate back and forth]

Dyer: "I just said that man, weren't you listening?"

Debater: "Well yeah, but I'm trying to get to the point of (blah)."

Dyer: "You can't do that, I just proved you can't."

Debater: "Well if I could just..."

Dyer: "No."

Debater "..."

Dyer: "Because I had already explained it and if you are too stupid to understand then there's not point going further."

[back and forth]

Dyer: "You're an idiot, dude. You're just an idiot. I answered your questions, I proved why you are wrong, you're an idiot."
Lol - Pretty accurate.

If I could, I would post actual screenshots here, most of them from Dyer himself. I’ve got PLENTY of them. It’s no big secret though, it’s just something that these Orthobros aren’t keen to advertise (understandably). Notice how none of them have actually addressed anything I’ve said or tried to refute it, because they can’t. I’m sure just a couple of Google or DuckDuckGo searches on Dyer, Farrell, etc. would pull all this up and easily verify everything I’ve just said. If you’re on Twitter, look up @HereisJorge and @MauricePinay. They are pretty good at researching these things and fleshing this stuff out.

Those Twitter accounts are scatter-brained and incomprehensible. -1 credibility.

Oh look another crazy sede... joined 49 minutes ago

It's the same crazy sede. He's gone through about half a dozen accounts. He was on here insulting Fr. Seraphim Rose in the exact same way about a month ago with a different account that I believe also lasted one day.

EDIT: Also, as said above, he's a follower of the Most Holy Family Basketball Court as well.

Lol without that background in philosophy and debating you're almost done before you enter a debate with him. Just because of his style and aggressive mannerisms he can get you into the corner very easily and keep punching you. Usually he says good things, if I can follow him, but that certainly is a factor in his debate success.

If anything Jay's background in philosophy from Cal State Fullerton is a bit of a hindrance that tends to amplify his bad tendency for prideful and arcane verbosity. The other aspect you mention here is his debating prowess, but a lot of it is along the lines of a Shapiro or Crowder who tend to elevate themselves by debating marginal figures.

I don't want to rip into the guy too much because I think that on balance he is definitely a good guy who gets many things right and puts out good content, my criticism on this and other aspects is meant to be constructive.

Jay has a great sense of humor. Comedy is best when punching "up" (in this case, to the dominant secular ideologies--not so much at other "heretical" Christians). Some weaknesses: Gamma-ish ("lol" at everything); tendency to get into internet cat fights; can come across as legalistic (Pharisee-like); avoidant of the J-Question; and his connection to Intelligence asset (and tranny-loving) Alex Jones.

I see his true calling would be having a production company focused on sketch comedy, memes and comics. He has a deep grasp of philosophy and theology and the ability to explain difficult concepts in a simple and often funny manner. Academia is a sewer, so he will never be recognized in that arena (and should pay them no fealty).

A good secondary business for him would be as a publisher. For example: writing/compiling a series of religious commentaries would be welcome. On at least one his casts he was using a book that was out of print for several years (he should license and compile such work into his own volumes). He could also make great textbooks for home schooling, such as on metaphysics.

He's married, so perhaps his priorities will change after he has a little Jay/Jane. As I get older/wiser I find it best to never put others on pedestals. We're all flawed humans. It's always easier to tear things down than build things up. A better Christian attitude is to focus on helping others in their journey towards theosis.

I personally don't watch a lot of Jay Dyer. I don't really get along with the complex theological side of things so well, and I don't get much out of watching debates. He's not my cup of tea as it were.

I don't really understand why some people are so vehemently against him though. They go after him based off the fact he can be rude or arrogant, but he doesn't proport himself to be a moral teacher, he teaches apologetics. And as for any apparent moral failings he might have, we have no idea about the extent of his repentance. By all accounts he has done a lot in terms of bringing people to Orthodoxy. I dunno why people aren't content to say 'he's not for me' and leave it at that...

Excellent stream.

This is the collaboration I’ve been waiting for.

I wouldn’t say Jay Dyer brought me to Orthodoxy. I remember seeing his videos come up back in ‘17 when searching for Ortho content, but I was looking more for priests and 101 type of simple stuff. I didn’t start watching his stuff until I was a catechumen. Same with Pageau. They’ve both come a long way as far as content quality goes. Their current stuff is a lot more refined than back when I first encountered them, as to be expected.

To be perfectly honest, for me, the quality of Jay’s content has devolved to the point where I can barely watch anything he puts out. I’m glad I discovered him when I did when I first became Orthodox, but I’ve pretty much moved on from the big guy. I’ve always looked at Pageau like I have at Father Steven Damick, with a not so sure what to think of them look…an uneasiness, if you will.

Pageau and Fr. Stephen Damick flirt with the occult and gnostic ideas on their respective programs. I prefer to avoid them.

Same.

I dont really understand why people feel the need to get so into the weeds of the theological stuff. It's feels like Pol for Christians, especially the kind of debates Jay seems to go in for, which seem to me like egos going head to head.

Each to their own though, and the times i've heard Jay being interviewed by more straight-ahead channels, he's a good listen. I just find his own stuff a bit indulgent and not really for me, but i certainly dont begrudge the guy.
