I'm heartened that Trump brought up adding sunset provisions to laws. In my opinion every fucking law on the books, including laws against murder and other such malum in se acts, should have a ~5 year sunset provision. Every one. Otherwise, it's completely fucking obvious that we'll just end up with ever more laws and regulations because it is clearly not in the nature of politicians to ever fucking repeal anything. Sunset provisions will keep the dipshits busy reinstating the same laws over and over, and only the truly important ones will stick.

Hell yeah man. Do you have a link to the Trump sunset quote? I'm not finding anything. I've been saying this for years, every politician wants to pass their own stupid laws to make their mark, nobody every votes to take a law away. This proposal alone should net Trump half the Gary Johnson voters. Best idea ever.

It wasn't a general proposal, he said they should add sunset provisions to the visa laws in the rally speech he made tonight, so the laws would have to be continuously updated. But it's the first time I've ever heard a major party politician even bring the concept up.

Edit - the Phoenix rally, I mean.

I just ordered some. I've never tried it. I was living in WI the past few years and kratom is banned there. Now I'm in CO so I figured I might as well try it before it's banned.

If I end up liking it I'll order a big batch before the end of the month.

What a retarted law.

So for the businesses who get their 'meat and potatoes' from Kratom what the fuck are they supposed to do now? It's only going to make illegal drug dealers richer and create a black market.

I have never used Kratom in my life but this just sounds like another one of those senseless and cruel acts that drives me through the roof when I hear it.

Anybody reckon this is part of some kind of attack on the so called "alt right" or men's interests? That's the only sphere I've heard this kratom mentioned.

I haven't posted in a while, but I wanted to say this is one of the most disappointing things I've heard in years. I first found out about the Kratom ban here, and I later read about it on some other forums I look at.

I've been using this stuff for 4-5 years and have never had any problems or negative reactions. The reason this stuff and phenibut have such a good reputation on the Roosh V forum is because they're relatively benign substances that can provide brief respite from issues like anxiety, tiredness, etc.

In fact, I'm more surprised they haven't banned phenibut. From what I understand, that substance has a way higher potential for abuse/addiction than kratom, even though I don't think even phenibut is that dangerous. But I prefer to live in a country where people make their own decisions as to what substances they use, not the government.

Hahaha, I was actually thinking the same thing, but I doubt the DEA really even knows/cares about the alt-right. Besides, I know some hippy-types that use it, too.

Make no mistake, this is a political decision, and it is a pointed attack on men and male self improvement.

They know that this is what kratom is frequently being used for. They are using legislation to cut off an avenue to male self improvement.

Kratom is not the first and it won't be the last.

They pass Statins and some birth control methods, yet they want to ban this and have partially lifted weed use.

The US has problems with prohibition stemming from its colonial days still.

This is self interest by the DEA, kratom is safe and heloping hundreds of thousands of addicts get sober from hard drugs and pharmaceuticals which hurts the DEA's funding for the long term. They saw state legislatoms decide not to ban it and swooped in now.

You guys are spot on. Henry Makow agrees, and attributes the ban to the pharma industry, in particular the manufacturers of a destructive, addictive synthetic oppiate drug Oxycontyn, this is today's entry in Makow's blog:

"DEA Bans Harmless Natural Substitute for OxyContin, Heroin
On the basis of 100 reports of "bad reactions"
a year, the DEA is banning Kratom Sept 30 without any consultations. Kratom is a traditional pain killer which has helped millions but cuts the profits of Jewish-owned pharmaceutical giant Purdue Pharma.
Purdue produces the addictive OxyContin, a chemical cousin of Heroin, which has caused a national epidemic of both drugs. There were 16,000 deaths due to opioid overdoses in 2010.
Instead of banning OxyContin, the DEA is banning a harmless substitute.

Kratom, also known as Mytrogena Speciosa, is a plant that grows in South-East Asia.

From the coffee family, it has been used in the traditional medicine of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China since ancient times. In small doses, it is a stimulant used by day laborers to increase productivity and reduce the effect of pain at work.

At higher doses, it reduces chronic pain. It binds to opioidmu receptors, but chemically, it is not an opiate or opioid.

Fast forward to 2016 in the USA. It is now a popular supplement used by thousands of people to reduce the effects of chronic pain, and to fight depression and PTSD. There have never been any deaths resulting from it and it is impossible to overdose because if one consumes an unhealthy quantity, the body vomits it up.

Kratom has helped people who have suffered from dependence on opiates to taper off of them finally. It also helps former addicts deal with cravings. It has been used for many years under the radar but everyone knew that at some point the corporate establishment would interfere to maximize their profits.

This supplement is cutting into the profits made by the Pharmaceutical corporations. The Pharmaceutical (which means sorcery in Septuagint Greek) corporations sell opiates which have caused addiction & abuse epidemics such as: Oxycontin & Percocet.

sacklers-1940x1284.jpg
In fact, the ((Sackler family,)) on the Forbes 2015 list of the richest families in America, made their $14 billion dollar fortune off Oxycontin, which has resulted in tens of thousands of overdoses and a national epidemic of addiction across U.S. cities. It can be crushed and snorted. and has made over 35 billion dollars in sales since it was launched by the Sackler family's Purdue Pharma.

The main difference between Kratom and OxyContin is that synthetic opiates like Oxycontin slow down breathing, and thus cause death at certain doses.

Kratom does not slow breathing, because it is a natural plant, not a synthetic compound. However it does cut into the Sackler's profits and provides solutions to those suffering from pain who do not wish to take synthetic chemical drugs from Pharmaceutical Corporations.

The DEA, which is an agency which is dependent on funding by the Pharmaceutical companies, and their associates, has now added Mitrogena Speciosa (Kratom) to the Schedule 1 list including Heroin and LSD. This is criminal, cruel, and insane.

Now users who use this herb for relief of pain and other symptoms will be criminalized and can be "legally" thrown into private prisons. Populations will suffer from arrest rates just like in the case of disproportionate arrests for Marijuana. People will do prison time for using an herb which does not even cause intoxication.

This is because the Sackler family wants to maximize its profits that it has made off of its deadly notorious drug OxyContin. OxyContin has caused untold death and destruction in our society, and is widely overprescribed. It is highly accessible and easy for youth to find and abuse.

Kratom has no abuse potential. This legislature criminalizes normative citizens for utilizing a substance that has been used for thousands of years in Traditional South Eastern and Chinese medicine. It does not even carry the stigma of intoxication. Interested American citizens may sign this petition against it becoming a Schedule 1 substance which takes effect on Sept. 30th.

The Sackler family seems to be a typical Illuminati family. "

Chuck Rosenberg, acting administrator of the DEA, claims the action “is necessary to avoid an imminent hazard to the public safety.” As an example of the risks of kratom, the DEA cites a CDC study published this summer that counted 660 poison control calls during a five-year period from 2010 to 2015 on behalf of people suffering untoward reactions to the herb or teas made from the plant material.

This is a complete fucking joke. There are ~2200 alcohol poisoning deaths per year, and I don't even know how many alcohol poisoning incidents.

According to the internet, acetominophen (tylenol) overdoses or misuse result in tens of thousands of ER visits every year and hundreds of deaths from acute liver failure.

Now 132 poison control calls per year, where presumably most people did not end up dying, mean kratom is an imminent hazard to public safety?

I suspect high level DEA officials are just a little too cozy with the big pharmaceutical companies.

Is this the reason being given to ban Kratom? 100 bad reactions?

I think even sticking plasters are more dangerous.

I've never used Kratom, nor have I had a particular interest in it, but banning it seems so ridiculous that there must be much more behind it than simply looking out for people's welfare.
I'm definitely going to have to start growing some myself now. I've become very interested in food and energy sovereignty and since Kratom is now something that the authorities don't want people having, it's something I'm suddenly very interested in learning about and experimenting with.

Just wanted to bump this thread as I think this is as much about our civil liberties slowly being eroded by the federal government as it is about a substance that as far as I can tell doesn't even come close to the dangers to other type I substances.

I am not a user and have signed the petition and as of today it looks like they've gotten the 100k needed signatures (please sign anyway if you haven't yet and support this cause).

Also, Chris from GLL has a good guide on other things you can do on his site that I recommend you check out if you would like to become more involved.
