Having the benefit of hindsight, I wouldn’t have been opposed to throwing this punk down and holding him until authorities arrived to arrest him (based on the woman wanting to press charges).
That said, in the moment however I would have been suspect even after the kick. My spider sense would have to be tuned in and on point, and I’d likely intervene on a physical restraint level if necessary once I was positive that the interaction was legitimate.

Straight out white knighting is a tough sell. I’d want to be sure that the entire incident was legitimate before potentially putting myself in harms way via a false/manufactured assault accusation.
