Usually these stings are targeting multiple men at once. The cops rent out a house and schedule men to come at different times over a few days or a week. The cops wait in the garage with an unmarked car and wait for the perp to establish intent and whisk them away quietly. I actually rented a house on the same street the cops used for one of the Catch a Predator episodes and we had no idea till it came out on TV.
This guy will likely get a plea deal and get a few years. Normally they use 11-12 year old bait because its far worse in the eyes of a jury than a 14-16 year old.

I think there's been attempts at this on instagram etc. where a questionably young girl will message you and try to get you to meet up.
Immediate solicitation is always a red flag, and having morality is a good way to avoid this.

^I think you're blowing Aero's post out of proportion. Obviously a 14-16 year old is too young to be having sex with an adult and the adult has the responsibility to know that no matter how attractive she attempts to make herself. Its morally and socially wrong and they need to get the book thrown at them if they break that law. I find it disgusting myself that a man would be attracted to a girl that young.
But having sexual relations with a child pre-puberty is far worse. Euthanizing the pedophile is the only sane option in a sane society... they're not just irresponsible and a criminal like the other guy (who's also probably messed up in the head)... they're defective human beings. No point in sending them to jail just put them down humanely like a sick dog.

This type of entrapment is morally and legally dubious. Too many of these cases from vigilante type groups - even when overseen or even conducted by the police - are thrown out of court.
What I have against these cases is the level of enticement rhat's needed. Women and men posing as children are very insistent and pursuasive when talking to these sad men who can't believe someone finally wants to fuck them (even if it's a 14 year old).
I'd even guess that some of the men don't even have a predilection for children, it's just a case of extreme thirst that pursuades them to do something totally crazy when it's being handed to them on a platter. On the other hand there are indeed guys out there with these type of fantasies who may never have actually acted on them had they not met an undercover police officer online who made it easy for them.
So much actual crime happening in the world unabated right now and yet we have police officers sitting in a darkened room helping create more crime that may not even have happened without their hand.

I have to disagree with some of the sentiments here.
The real problem is the hypocritical western social values where it is ok for a 14 year old girl to sleep with a boy her own age but if an older man did it he is a pedophile. How is that consistent or scientific.
I'm not saying men should be going after 14 year olds but we should expect the law to be consistent.

This shit bothers me. Any man who is willing to walk hundreds of miles for any woman, 14 years old or not, is probably mentally or emotionally unstable. Why are we punishing him for that instead of giving him help?
Furthermore, I'm willing to bet the pictures they shared with him were of a girl of at least 18 years old and very attractive. That always did that on TCAP, which was extremely misleading. It's like they're trying to make people into criminals who wouldn't have ordinarily done anything.
And who's to say that the perpetrator would have actually done anything? I mean, are they assuming he would have just raped her on the spot? If he has no prior convinctions, that's a bit of a leap. People's online personas are often very silly and do not reflect their real life intentions or character whatsoever. Can you really convinct someone on the basis of assuming their intentionality? That's some minority report type of shit there. The American legal system makes me sick.

He will do zero time most likely, and he will "take it as a lesson learned" . Well maybe if he has a public defender he may do 1 year in prison. Most likely he will get probation/ "rehab" and lawyer will argue entrapment that manipulated his "mental illness" and slap on wrist. This how american law system works. If you have a mental disorder, you will get less time than someone who doesnt have a mental disorder and committed the same crime. There is no real justice unless its a violent crime. Its a fucked up country, glad i am no longer part of it.
There are countless articles on the internet where they say so and so will face 30+ years.. Then countless articles that follow it that show they actually served no time even though they were guilty as hell. Always the original sentence is harsh and they throw the book at you then they significantly lower the sentence.
Remember you can be accused and arrested of any crime. You are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. It doesnt say he was charged yet. Just what he is facing if convicted. But he wont be convicted for 10 years. You can research up on similar cases and see the outcome.
I'm not saying this guy is justified but I will use this case and outrage to talk about the broader point of the topic at hand. First things first, the word for someone who is attracted to post puberty/developed teens (usually 15-18) is called Ephebophilia. An to lump someone who would bang a smoking hot 15 year old girl with tits and ass... with someone who would bang a little kid (disgusting vile piece of trash) is disingenuous. I'm not saying its right or wrong for someone willing to bang teenagers, thats up for debate and most people already have their views on it.
