The late 1970s to the early 1980s is the last generational divide that is remarkable in its difference. I think a lot of it has to do with your birth order or if you have older siblings, etc.
I agree.

I’m early-mid 80’s. Grew up without tech, single tv and single phone household. We played inside and out, rain or sunshine.

My sister is only 4 yrs younger and is a full blown CNN commie.

Middle sibling my brother is more similar to me.

There’s something about late 80’s which transferred into the first who really appeared to get hit by modern warfare.

The influence of older siblings and relatives is massive.

My cousin is born mid 70's and I'm born mid 80's and I always (still do) looked up to him. We're very similar but he's a multi millionaire wizz kid while I'm the "weirdo" guy for having the same intelligence/ values (he just moved back in with his parents to take care of them). I probably am a weirdo but the 10 years are massive when I see gen Y around me. I also have cousins 10 - 15 years younger than me and I can barely communicate with them. I feel gen Y (born 80's) are struggling the most because they grew up without the internet but made themselves with it.

Now it's Tiktok.

I was also born mid 80's and learned everything from my older cousins. I actually like music and pop culture things from before my time because of them among other things.

I have a monstrous family, my younger cousins are actually really good kids because of it I think whereas i see other young kids and they don't know or care about anything past what they learned from social media that day. There were and are endless strong men for them to learn from and to keep them in line with accountability. My grandfather passed when I was young but my uncles are like revered kings of our family and us younger guys are always trying to make them proud and do things for them.

Family is everything
