More men join nursing field as stigma starts to fade

A lot of female nurses I've met are very unpleasant to be around, especially compared to male nurses. Male nurses seem like they cared more and worked harder. Many women in comparison were bitchy and lazy. Lots of fatties too. I would lose my mind working with all those nutty broads, but a more tolerant man can do very well as a nurse. Most female nurses also seem like huge skanks.

Oh well. I guess the money is good. The nurse bishes ain't so good all the time. As long as there are no homo nurses it should be fine. But then I think it does draw in the homos

There are a few here and there, but the majority are actually straight. The few gay nurses I have met are shockingly competent. You would be better off with a gay nurse taking care of you then your average vapid female nurse.

Most female nurses spend 90% of their shift on their phones and the other 10% trying to get dick from the residents.

Can confirm that nursing is for women and faggots. Men are quite capable of it and ARN is correct that the gays trump the women by a wide margin (I guess at the end of the day they're still men) but life can be very hard for a straight male nurse, as it is in any female dominated workplace. No need to go into details why. Just imagine all the cliches about catty women (and fags).

The exception is perhaps singular roles such as community nursing where you get to be out and about by yourself, or maybe roles that are more heavily in the public eye like working in blood donor facilities. Specialist medicine is apparently less bitchy and the higher the level of care as a general rule the more professional the staff will be. ICU is generally far better than being on a ward for example.

For men the lowest level of hell is Maternity. Not even the fags survive there.

In my experience, female nurses are the worst fag hags around. I've never met any in lower stress positions like pediatrics because they all seem to have that liberty bell shape, but every one I've known in a ward or ICU had severe issues in addition to fag haggery.

The closest thing I can compare to dating a nurse is that scene from Generation Kill where the one marine stands up in view of the Iraqi APC that's firing on their humvee column because he "wants to feel what it's like to get shot, but not like actually shot".

I'm just curious about what your profession is.

I don't really care if men go into nursing or not, its more of the changes to the stigma that concerns me. Because if there is one thing that I truly loathe about today's society is all the social engineering that is occurring. I fucking hate it. Naturally, the social engineers would love to see more male nurses and they'd also like to see more female doctors because a doctor is better than a nurse. But its really because these fucking miserable fucked-up cretins, the engineers, dislike how the culture used to be conditioned to expect a man as a doctor and a woman as a nurse.

And so they stick their nasty little obnoxious pathetic fingers into the mix and "engineer" an outcome that ultimately serves really no good, other than masturbating their egos, which is immature and selfish.

How they go about this engineering is equally grating. They'll start with mass media, namely, tv shows and movies. They'll typecast in a male nurse(s) and female doctor(s). Many times they'll address the so called "stigma" upfront. I'd bet there is an entire grey's anatomy episode or even backstory woven into a whole season dedicated to this very thing. And you can bet they say how this will "grapple" with how women are now the doctor and the men are the nurses.

Consider the movie "fever pitch". Was it really about a pathetic obsessed Red Sox fan, OR, was it about the female character being a math wiz and the male being a simple teacher. Watch it again, if you have the stomach, she outdoes him on every level. Its all fucking engineering! Its all designed to create a collective impression that some men, maybe small maybe large amounts, are teachers too and some women, maybe few maybe lots, are math nerds that are always at the gym and do cardio boxing while the men are lazy couch potatoes and happy about how the women are just better than them. BTW, jimmy fucking kimbal starred in it, so.

This is the equation. Later iterations of this go as far as websites and marketing collateral. For instance, a hospitals website might be sure to include an obvious male nurse and they'll sure as shit include the female doctors.

Reality? Well was there this massive mistake? Were there always more women boxers and mathematicians and doctors than men? Is it even true today. No. Fucking NO! But reality does not matter. Its the impression that counts or the perception thereof.

Worse still, the kinds of people behind this "engineering" are wretched people. They're clearly insecure and manipulative. They're the purple haired freak lesbians too unremarkable to get a man so they're a lesbian. If you ever wonder what happens to "women's or queer studies" graduates...they become these social engineers. Pathetically counting how many male doctors and female nurses are presented on TV shows and medical school websites. That's what their stupid life has come to.

I'm going to drop some invaluable jewels for those of you going into nursing.

DO NOT go to nursing school at a 4 year university unless you have a full ride scholarship !! That is the ULTIME WASTE OF MONEY !! ALWAYS, ALWAYS become a nurse through a community college !! Get your ASN/ADN from a 2 year school, work as a nurse making 60k-80k and save the measly 10k-14k to obtain your BSN.

DO NOT DATE OTHER NURSES, I am constantly telling guys, nursing is NOT the paradise they think it is !! Female Nurses are shitty MASCULINE sociopaths !! Some nurses are cool but this field attracts highly (academically) intelligent, angry, aggressive women with a boat load of guy drama and personal problems.

Nursing can be awesome IF you find the right facility !! If you work in a place with shitty staff and management your life will be a miserable hell EVERY SINGLE SHIFT !!!

If the work environment is unpleasant don't be afraid to speak to management about relocation or working with certain staff, if that doesn't work FIND A NEW JOB IMMEDIATELY !! do not stick around hoping things will get better and accepting things as they are. Nursing is a different animal compared to any other career, you can leave facilities and find work at a different job in an instant !! You can even return to the same facility you quit multiple times without any strikes or consequences ! It's common to find people who quit their job 3 or 4 times that just keep leaving & returning.

Heres a secret no one ever tells you about the medical field: The ONLY thing employers care about is finding qualified bodies to fill in the schedule/shift.

Every facility and hospital has its own unique culture and class of people, If you want to make life easy for yourself while you earn a TON of cash you will have to find the right culture and staff thats comfortable for you !! working with the right people can make a 12 hour shift feel like 4 hours of stress free work.

You will have to change EVERYTHING you know about employment and job dynamics. As a nurse you hold all the cards and the more selfish you are, the happier and more productive you will be. Ironically the more selfish you are the better your patient care becomes !!

You no longer have to worry about finding a job that pays well because, they all pay well !! (some better than others), your new strategy is finding the right facility that has a culture and staff that fits your personality.

If you do decide to go into a nursing you will make GREAT money !! I'm constantly investing and shopping. I have the financial freedom to buy EVERYTHING I've ever wanted. I never have to worry about finding work anywhere in the country, even remote areas in South Dakota.

One last thing...if you decide to go into nursing, NEVER, EVER, EVER stop at bedside nursing. As a man you use nursing as a stepping stone to become a CRNA, ACNP, NP or Psychiatric NP. You never go into nursing to become a nurse forever.

I've had 3 ex's who are nurses. In general, they were all really nice and did have that nurturing quality we are all looking for. They also complained about how hard it is to find a good guy and the sex ratio of their workplaces.

I need some help fleshing an idea I've had... what are some ways to game this niche without actually working in it?

Nursing / employment fairs
Doctors and Nurses balls
Cafes near or part of hospitals
Befriend a nurse and meet his/her social circle

What else?

Nursing is women’s work. Doctors should be male. If men want to work in the medical field, but they are unable to become doctors or do not want to be doctors, there are plenty of opportunities available—pharmacists, technicians, engineers, laboratory work, ambulance drivers, paramedics, strong men who are needed to lift patients, etc…

If I’m on a hospital bed and groaning with pain, I don’t want my arm being stroked by a man.

Steven Baskerville’s book, The New Politics of Sex, explains that the nursing field has become professionalized. Whereas previously a nurse was just a woman who helped out a doctor and learned on the job, now everything is so formalized. They are making it more male-like, with tertiary degrees and the like. They have all sorts of advanced degrees, and you can now become a “doctor” in nursing.

I remember about 20 years ago there was a movie that came out called “Meet the Parents”. It was about a male nurse who was going to have go meet his fiancé’s parents, and much of the movie was about the embarrassment of a man having to tell his fiance’s parents that he was a nurse. How times have changed in just two decades. Nowadays people often refer to a man as a “nurse” with fluency and a completely straight face, with no giggle whatsoever. If I am talking about a man who is a nurse I find that hard to do; I typically have to qualify it with “male nurse.” If I’m trying to dignify the person and I don’t want to be disrespectful, I often call him a “health care worker.” Sometimes I just find it difficult to say “nurse”.

The blurring of sex roles is the great tragedy of our time. You even have a man working as a receptionist at the front desk, answering phones, and serving as a typist, and then have a woman serving as an executive. What a tragedy.

I think the big reason men are joining is because there are tons of jobs in it, and it pays really well. You can pick anywhere you want to live, and find a job and you're school will be paid off fast. You can do any kind of nursing you want.
