I have a terrible driving record. I have a new strategy when I get pulled over. It has resulted in 3 warnings out of the the last 4 times I have been pulled over. I hand over my license, I immediately apologize and I say, "I have a very poor driving record." Sometimes I simply ask for leniency. If they ask you if you know why they pulled you over, just admit it. Be as honest as possible and contrite. They seem to find this refreshing as they are used to people bullshitting them. The only one who gave me a ticket was a woman.
