Non-Orthodox subforums are closing

The Catholic and Non-Orthodox subforums are closing effectively immediately, and longstanding rules forbidding heterodox spiritual teachings and proselytizing will continue to be enforced. This change affects a small minority of members who regularly used the Catholic and Non-Orthodox subforums.

Why am I taking this measure? I've come to learn that it is impossible to have a peaceful community if there are zealous members of multiple faiths. Clashes, arguments, spreading of errant teachings, and petty comments occur here regularly. This disturbs the peace of the forum, causes confusion about what Christianity is, and builds enmity between members. Also, many of the heterodox positions are heresies according to the Orthodox Church, and it's not appropriate for me to give that a platform.

When it comes to spiritual needs, the forum can only serve the Orthodox, while others are free to stay as welcome guests in the narthex (to use a church analogy), and participate in the more secular sections of the forum. If you are not Orthodox and are not an inquirer but have spiritual needs, I recommend you go to the many other internet forums that exists for other denominations.

Some threads in the Non-Orthodox subforum will be moved to the Inquirers subforum. If you wish to participate in those threads, it should be done from the position of inquiry. Others will eventually be deleted from the forum.

I have no animosity towards people of other faiths, but an Orthodox forum must zealously strive to be an Orthodox forum or else it will get swarmed by other faiths due to the number of American Orthodox being so small. I also want to eliminate confusion for lurkers of what Christianity is, since this forum does not intend to have an ecumenist outlook. Again, for the vast majority of members, there will be no change, though from this point on, it is not appropriate for non-Orthodox members to prosletyze or debate their spiritual beliefs.

Lastly, the rules were updated. Most suspensions and bans occur when members don't follow the most basic rules (e.g. not using profanity). Review the rules here: https://www.rooshvforum.com/threads/forum-rules-faq.37393/

As a non-Orthodox Christian (read: demon-possessed heretic condemned to hell, per the internet ascetics) I personally applaud these changes. The surest way to dispel the false notion of the Orthodox being cliquish, insular, and unwelcoming to other Christians is to make the forum even more cliquish, insular, and unwelcoming to other Christians.

Just for the record, no serious Orthodox person believes this. I don't remember the last time I've ever seen such an opinion from an Orthodox person, let alone a saint. In fact, someone once reported that the reposed Saint John of Shanghai and San Francisco prayed for the salvation of a concerned Orthodox person's non-Orthodox parents in a vision, albeit not wearing his bishop's attire in the vision.

I'm personally glad there's now a forum devoted to Orthodoxy not compromised by political correctness, where we can talk about serious issues. This is now the only such Orthodox forum in the English language to my knowledge. This should be a beneficial change for people. There is now a dedicated place for Catholics of a similar mindset, who outnumber Orthodox in the US something like one hundred to one. Both faiths can now have unfettered conversations where they're free to speak their mind.

Can we request certain threads to be moved if they aren't specifically catholic or protestant?

These threads for example are related to the end times, which don't conflict with Orthodox teachings:

I'm new here so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about but I think it's fine. It's their space.

Yes I was going to suggest this.

These threads were originally discussions for non-Orthodox. Better to start new threads on those topics if you have questions about what the Orthodox teach.
I don't see the value of continuing the Pope thread. It will just be Pope bashing. Though feel free to start a Catholic-Orthodox Relations thread.

Roosh, if you will indulge me posting this link, there is a wonderful group that sponsors conferences and publications in an ecumenical spirit, but that seems to have been started by Orthodox Christians. This would seem like a good place to check out especially for Protestants who value the Orthodox doctrinal standards of this forum coupled with ecumenical dialogue:

The forum has quite large portion of informative threads that aren't strictly Orthodox. Quitting because you are Catholic seems like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Due to network effect. I think it's less convenient to have offshoots. Although Roosh is definitely on point in regards to subversives starting contention.

Actually would be fine with a kind of "blogroll" list where we are all linked together as parallel domains. I remember the Old Manosphere blogs are linked together that way.

Getting activity and engagement going on a new forum to the point where it reaches an attractive state is very difficult. It could affect their chance of success if they split posting between the new forum and RVF. I don't want to see them go, but know they will have to focus on the new place to make it work.
