The Catholic and Non-Orthodox subforums are closing effectively immediately, and longstanding rules forbidding heterodox spiritual teachings and proselytizing will continue to be enforced. This change affects a small minority of members who regularly used the Catholic and Non-Orthodox subforums.
Why am I taking this measure? I've come to learn that it is impossible to have a peaceful community if there are zealous members of multiple faiths. Clashes, arguments, spreading of errant teachings, and petty comments occur here regularly. This disturbs the peace of the forum, causes confusion about what Christianity is, and builds enmity between members. Also, many of the heterodox positions are heresies according to the Orthodox Church, and it's not appropriate for me to give that a platform.
When it comes to spiritual needs, the forum can only serve the Orthodox, while others are free to stay as welcome guests in the narthex (to use a church analogy), and participate in the more secular sections of the forum. If you are not Orthodox and are not an inquirer but have spiritual needs, I recommend you go to the many other internet forums that exists for other denominations.
Some threads in the Non-Orthodox subforum will be moved to the Inquirers subforum. If you wish to participate in those threads, it should be done from the position of inquiry. Others will eventually be deleted from the forum.
I have no animosity towards people of other faiths, but an Orthodox forum must zealously strive to be an Orthodox forum or else it will get swarmed by other faiths due to the number of American Orthodox being so small. I also want to eliminate confusion for lurkers of what Christianity is, since this forum does not intend to have an ecumenist outlook. Again, for the vast majority of members, there will be no change, though from this point on, it is not appropriate for non-Orthodox members to prosletyze or debate their spiritual beliefs.
Lastly, the rules were updated. Most suspensions and bans occur when members don't follow the most basic rules (e.g. not using profanity). Review the rules here: https://www.rooshvforum.com/threads/forum-rules-faq.37393/
