Normies and coronavirus

Klaus Schwabb said that Australians (Melbournians specifically) are a "model for society" when they had the most brutal lockdowns anywhere with little resistance but then again I see a lot of similarities between Australian and asian society (lately) but that could be because of the huge amount of Chinese who basically own half of the place.

It's disheartening to hear what's going on in Japan, I always thought highly of them culturally.
Is the COVID vaccine still mandated by a lot of employers in Australia?

In many regards my experience with Australians is that they are much more based than Canadians (on immigration for example) but on other matters (like firearms) they are much more to the left. In Alberta there is a strong and visible anti-vax community and our premier is largely in place because of the movement's support. When I was younger I though Australia would be an improvement over Canada but the COVID situation makes me question this.

Certain professions (unfortunately mine) still need you to have had your 5th shot (yes, not just the original 2 death jabs). Employers like Coles and Woolworths (major supermarkets) mandate the booster shots as well because the government has made it legal for them to question your medical status (monopolies are another accepted thing here).
There are many awesome Aussies around (like here on the forum) but in general there's just not a whole lot of culture and I think it might come from them never having a war on their land and still being such a young nations which started off as a prison which now has become a... prison again now the old generation has died off. Most Aussies aren't even descendant of prisoners but the guards wardens and officers are still here and that's why it's famously called "the nanny state". There are actually more guns per capita in Australia than anywhere else but it's the cops and crooks who own them.

I'm not sure what happened to Canada, I know some people there and they seem to scratch their heads as well. Both Australia and Canada are the "Commonwealth" eh?

Thanks for the reply. That is totally insane and much worse than Canada. Where I live in Canada resistance to COVID mandates and firearm ownership is very common. I think mass immigration into Canada is much worse though.

As a young man I was totally fascinated with Australia and actually saved up money from a part-time job to visit and travel around the country. Back then I was amazed to see how politically-incorrect Aussies were (admittedly in the north of the country) . I actually wanted to move down there (to escape the politically correct nonsense in Canada) but sadly came up short of points in the immigration system. At this point I think I dodged a bullet.

I'm in contact with more normies than before, and I noticed that any truth concerning vaccines has completely passed them by. It's quite hard to find skeptics among them.

We (on RVF) are a small group, unfortunately. Many people just don't want to hear any criticism about the medical industry.

Mirrors my experience. When you ask them if did catch Covid, all of them say yes but are quick to add that thankfully they had been jabbed, since otherwise it surely would have been much worse.

I think it is all based on pockets and local populations, as you say. The most unfortunate combination of traits is the "compromise" duality of being normie enough to have received the jab, but not thinking it should be mandated. The reason I say this is because these people do have a spark of the truth but the weeds strangled them into being just another being in the matrix.

Probably why they ditched the covid narrative when they did. It was becoming unsustainable, but alas, we're sheep, and it just bought them more time to reprogram us. I'm thankful for everyone who has stayed vigilant even though they're not actively coming after us like they once did.

Bro my physiotherapist still doesn't want to shake my hand and I'm still ordered to wear a mask.

My acoustician was wearing a mask the other day. I asked her if she had bad breath and she replied, "No, I just want to save my customers because I have a cold. I couldn't resist responding: "Great, then I can finally release my fart (which I didn't) because I'm about to burst." Her co-worker had a hard time not laughing out loud. The acoustician was not amused, but continued her work without getting angry.

99% of people just repeat what's around them. If they're in a religious environment, they gonna do religious, if they're in atheist environment, they gonna do atheist. If they're in capitalist society, they gonna do capitalistic, if they're in communist society they gonna do communist etc etc etc. The 2 groups that break out of it and change their worldview are 1. a minute fraction of people who naturally think critically (hardly anyone) and 2. people who are burst out of their bubble through suffering, things not going their way, traumatic devastating experiences in their lives (most people on rvf I guess). It's important to understand this - saves one a lot of energy trying to convince the 99% of what's really up - they're not interested unless they fall into said 2 categories. What I've realized is that overall the desperate are most open to changing their entire worldview - if they're not in dire desperation, they're just too comfortable and they've got no reason to change their thinking, challenge their worldviews, invest time and energy into that.

Did the acoustician (specialist in acoustics?), have sealed coverings over her ears? Two more dangerous openings that need to be addressed at all times, at least in her flawed thinking. She needs to be consistent in her actions.

Yeah where I live it's a much more blue collar culture. Most of us don't really talk about it much and there's a fairly deep rooted mistrust of anyone who pushes any issue too hard.

You still live in the DMV region, right?

Maybe you need to take another road trip. The people in the DMV region are almost all controlled by the media with their opinions.

Any large metro with a predominant services economy will be slaves to the narrative. The best you can do for urbanity is some lighter blue outliers like South Florida or San Diego. I live in a corporate heavy midwest city and the people here are absolutely pathetic, it’s not strictly a regional thing.

No doubt. The people in the DMV, though, are really something else compared to the rest of the country.

Almost everyone raised in the DMV has parents that work for the government or government subcontracting. They know about 501c3s and if they start a subcontractor it will be headed by a minority wounded war veteran. They know that the system is absolutely corrupt and that people get away with illegal and immoral things and yet they will act as if the same system never lies to them.

Literally had a discussion about this last week with me and another guy who had lived in DMV/NOVA and outsiders and the outsider was pretty shocked at how openly corrupt the entire thing is. Literally people creating small business minority owned, and when it's no longer small they "sell" the business and then take their current customers from the business they just sold so they can start a new "small business." Lather, rinse, repeat.

If she was being courtesy/honest, I think her wearing a mask when having a cold is admirable and the actual sole reason/only reason people should wear masks while out in public (to keep their germs isolated and not get others sick). Ideal situation is to take sick leave and stay home to not spread germs but if you do need to interact with people in public, keep distance and/or wear a mask if you actually have care for other people’s well being. As long as it’s not political virtue signaling or brainwashed fear reasons, I have no problems with people being open about being sick (even a common cold) and preventing others for feeling miserable for several days.

Masks do not protect you from a cold or flu, which has been discussed extensively here.
The idea of protection is nothing but nonsense.

The immune system is in place for a reason. The idea that we should eliminate every single possible avenue of suffering in this world is ridiculous. People are meant to experience periods of sickness and there is a humanizing, mortal aspect to that.

That area is fairly awful. Back when I was one of those traveling "consultants" of the type business schools glamorize, I spent several months on a project at a large corporate office near Dulles (doesn't narrow it down much. There's a bunch).

It was this weird combination of extremely wealthy, fancy, and utterly sterile. There was a lot of stuff in the area and none of it had any flavor. It all felt extremely generic and flat.

I’m not up to speed on research on masks not helping protecting against cold/flu (just Covid) so I’ll take your word for it. If masks are useless then if your sick then stay home until you aren’t contagious. If you must go out in public, just be courteous, keep distance from others and keep your hands clean at least. Minimal effort can help others not have to deal with some misery and lost days. Unless a person has a “misery loves company” mindset.
