Normies and the Russian-Ukraine war

I feel this war can be an enormous opportunity for loudmouth chicken-hawks to put their money - and they bodies - where their mouths are.

Zelensky has openly called for foreign fighters to come take up arms and join the fight. So...go do it.

Can't wait to see the thoughts-and-prayers battalion ride BMPs into the east triumphantly

If conservative normies fall for the Russia bad narrative then the American oligarchs will have their mandate to do whatever they want. It will also have the effect of neutralizing conservatives who were agitating against coronavirus, putting them back into a deep sleep.

The MSM destroyed whatever was left of their good will and has built up way too much cynicism among the crowd over the past two years. If a sizeable portion of the population falls for this pivot then i guess whatever happens is just desserts. Although i suspect its out of many peoples control, since the technologically driven mass proliferation of propaganda is pretty much at an all time high at any given moment, many may become powerless over time just from it being beamed into their heads 24/7 and eventually drowning them in it.

Apparently Fox News (except Tucker) is even more nutso than CNN and other mainstream media about Russiaphobia, so expect most conservatives to fall in line on the anti-Putin stuff. Not that many people watch these shows anymore, but they do set the tone, which is echoed and echoed and echoed throughout all media.

I chair a board at a small but prominent local charity (they have seen national media coverage) and at our last zoom meeting (yes they are still too terrified to meet in person) they started off by doing some ridiculous We Must Defend Democracy Against Putin BS. I clicked out of the call and walked away. They can wait until next month for my input, or just do without it completely if they are going down this road.

Does anyone have a good knee-jerk response to people who insert 'By the Way I hate Putin' sentiments randomly into conversations? Happened a couple of days ago. It took me off guard and I just remained silent, which hopefully made them feel awkward.

The only thing I've thought of is "well, that's certainly the popular opinion" which will get them wondering...

Conservative normies are already bandying about Mitt Romney calling out Russia 10 years ago to validate their bloodlust. Its gross.

I read the comments on an article from National Review online. It seems the majority were anti-Russian pro American cheerleader comments. hopefully it does not represent the majority. I think if we go all in on a war against Russia, it will become impossible to convince most people conservatives included that we not Russia are the bad guys.

I haven't spoken to anyone yet who doesn't think Russia is 100% to blame here. Even the conservatives I know who saw thru much of the COVID hysteria want the US and NATO to push hard vs Putin and teach him a lesson.

A few times now I've presented the scenario of Russia or China themselves heading an Eastern equivalent to NATO and attempting to setup up shop right on our border. And what would our response be.

They don't care. It's basically "we're America and we can do as we wish".

And that has to be one's stance if they don't see or admit to the hypocrisy regarding the reality we would enforce the Monroe Doctrine and similar against any foreign power who tried to interfere in the Western Hemisphere, or to ignore the reality we intervene, interject, destabilize, invade and bomb countless countries on other continents which are of no direct threat to us.

I've believed for a long time the country young Americans were most brainwashed to hate was Russia. It was taught to us repeatedly in school growing up. I see this weird disconnect where many I know truly believe Russia is the world's greatest evil empire while at the same time being a little weak, 3rd world country we can mow down.

The time for waking up is over. This event set the ratio in stone. Those who are awake have seen through Coof and will see through this. Those who haven't are lost souls and they will fall once again when plandemic 2.0 hits. All reasoning is futile at this point.

Family were vax skeptics but are now 100% anti-Russia, it's sad to see them fall for the legacy media propaganda. They have no clue what happened in 2014 in Ukraine, and their response to pointing out relentless NATO/EU expansion is essentially that Russia needs to roll over and become a puppet state for the West.

I still remember the Iraq invasion. Everyone was in favor (except me). The Republicans, Democrats, mass media, and man on the street. They were all persuaded that Saddam was a monster and was about to unleash weapons of mass destruction. American propaganda has no equal.

To be fair I fell for it at the time , the hippies were right because they are anti any conflict, at least I learnt.

Too many people are too lazy to do basic research. The internet makes research so convenient and it is a pity people won't consider both sides. I understand teenagers falling for such propaganda if they lack decent role models, but someone who is 50 or 60 that still blindly believes whatever the media says is quite a disappointment.

Some highlights from the Ukraine volunteers subreddit:

"I'm black and want to serve...will I experience racism from the locals?"

"Do not join up if you are sexist or anti-LGBTQ."

"When you arrive, avoid any extremist groups like Azov. You could be put be arrested and put on a no-fly list when you get back home."

I have genuine pity for these folks. They're drinking the media swill and could end up getting harmed based on a delusional Disney hero complex. Hopefully the conflict comes to an end before they make it over there.

rest assured these idiots can barely muster up the strength to leave their house without 6 masks. You think they're voluntarily flying to a warzone? Maybe the 99th percentile delusional ones are.. but hey, Darwinism takes care of that problem.. More likely scenario is they get distracted by a shiny new video game or tech gadget and forget about the whole thing
