Garcia in 6. I wish I could bet on it. Like it or not, the future of the sport is Mikey Garcia and Gennady Golovkin, not Alvarez, although Alvarez has a future.

What about Broner?

If he doesn't lose against Marcos Maidana (I'm really not sure about that fight because of Maidana's defensive problems), he will lose fairly soon after the Maidana fight. As I stated before, Broner argueably lost to Daniel Ponce De Leon and got exposed against Paulie Malignaggi. Broner is not a great defensive boxer and his power is questionable at 147. Put him in with Danny Garcia or Matthysse, and he will very likely lose.

Brandon Rios?

Brandon Rios will likely lose to Pacquiao. In my opinion, Rios is a second-rate fighter who lost to Mike Alvarado, who is also not an elite fighter. That being said, I think Rios would have a chance against Broner, although I would not bet on either of them should they fight. As things presently are, there is zero chance that Rios would fight Broner, because Rios is promoted by Top Rank and Broner is promoted by Golden Boy. Some of the guys who would have a good chance at beating Broner are Mayweather (obviously), Danny Garcia, Matthysse, Keith Thurman, Pacquiao, Devon Alexander, Robert Guerrero, and Maidana (as I said before, I'm not sure about that fight, but Maidana has a chance). I'm sure there are some other guys, but those are the ones who I can think of off the top of my head.

Damn, you aren't too high on Rios.

I agree with you though, I think Pac probably takes it. I don't think he is nearly as far gone as everyone seems to think. He really just got caught once.

Rios, is certainly no all time historical fighter, but I do like his inside work. I like how he hooks to the body and comes right up with upppercuts. Real vicious. And I don't mean that Swedish guy on here either.

Remember though, he also beat Alavardo.

I haven't seen the Broner VS Malinaggi fight, maybe that's why I rate him higher than you do.

If you watch both the Broner-Ponce De Leon fight and the Broner-Malignaggi fight, you may very well agree with me.

Is anyone going to watch the Andre Ward fight tomorrow? I say Ward wins a pretty-one-sided unanimous decision. The odds I saw were about -750 in favor of Ward. I think the odds are pretty exaggerated considering Rodriguez is undefeated and Ward has not fought in quite some time, but I guess that's the effect of the number two pound for pound guy fighting a guy who's probably nowhere near the pound for pound list. For some reason, I have every major cable TV channel except for HBO, so I probably won't be watching the fight.

Say what?

Get HBO holmes.

If there was one channel I could have it would be HBO.

Because of Boxing and Bill Maher.

Showtime is better right now, because all the Golden Boy fighters are fighting there and not on HBO. The Top Rank guys are on HBO. I used to have it and used to watch the fights, but for some reason it got shut off. I don't pay the bill or deal with any of that stuff, but I need to get it back.

On top of that....Rodriguez cannot win the title at all because because he did not make weight...came in at 170. If he at 180+ by 9am in the morning, the fight will be called off.

Speaking of Andre Ward.

If anyone wants to learn more about him, the author of "A Fighter's Heart" spent a while with Ward and his trainer, which forms a chapter in the book:

http://www.amazon.com/Fighters-Heart-Journey-Through-Fighting/dp/0802143431

I read this years ago and I'm sure any Boxing or MMA fans will enjoy it, though it has a couple chapters that could have been edited better.

Why does Tyson think Don King is a crook?

Mike Tyson spent hundreds of millions of dollars that Don King helped negotiate for him

Just cos' Tyson went broke doesn't mean Don King robbed him blind.

^ Watch 'Being Mike Tyson' - He is hugely insecure and all the above bravado was a defence mechanism. He is also an extremely perceptive and intuitively intelligent man, just lacking the education to articulate it effectively.

My uncle works with Ward's aunt. My uncle knows the family.

He says that Ward is a very solid, humble, quiet, old school, religious kid.

I don't know if that's good or bad for his boxing career but thats the type of kid he is. He's a great kid.

Well, both of those things are true..

Mike went broke because of his lack of financial discipline and education.

But, its also true that Don King was stealing from him.

Even if Don King wasn't stealing from him, he still might have gone broke but the fact is that Don King was stealing from Mike.

A manager should protect his fighter financially. He knew Mike didn't have the means to invest and save his his money.

Most of Mikes managers were crooks. Boxing is a shady business. They should have set him up with trusts and other investment vehicles. They didn't do any of that.

Mike was 19 years old when he became world champion. Just a kid. They should have done more to protect him financially.

They were just on the take.

To get that upset over a remark suggests he was was in a very sad place.

A sad place or a violent place???

Maybe both?

Violence is a weird phenomenon. What fuels it is often a combination of sadness, rage, hopelessness, anger, frustration, etc.

All of these things can be channeled into violence.

This video was taken the day before a world championship fight. Literally, 24 hours before going to war.

Fighters put their lives on the line. They often channel their inner demons in order to work themselves into a murderous frenzy. This is their job. It's kill or be killed.

I don't expect fighters to behave like me and you. They are risking their lives. They play by a different set of rules.

If you had a life or death fight tomorrow. How would you feel? You know the other man is coming to kill you. If you win, you make millions, if you lose, your career could be over.

If you were in that position, you might be a little irritable, you might be on edge. If some little reporter guy was talking shit to you, you might go off on him the way Mike did.

This is a fight. A fight for millions of dollars. Sadness, rage, anger, frustration, etc. are things that could fuel you to win the fight.

Fighting is not a place for proper manners and fancy etiquette. Fighting is war.

Mike was in his warrior mindset, that little reporter guy was talking shit, Mike put him in his place.

This is the business of violence. This is not a place for little reporters to be talking shit.

When you talk shit to a warrior, 24 hours before he goes into battle, how do you expect him to react?

That sadness and rage made him a world champion but it also caused his downfall. Its a strength or a weakness, depending on how we channel it.

It looks crazy in this video, but 24 hours later, it made him million of dollars.

I actually think that Mike articulates very effectively.

If you listen to the things he says and not the way that he speaks, you can see that he is highly intelligent on the subjects that he cares about.

^^^ Freeze that video at 0:12. The look on Tyson's face there would send chills down the spine of even the bravest man.

This is my favorite Tyson clip of all time. The way it just builds up is hilarious and awesome. Mike is the best when he goes into his stream of consciousness mode.

Yeah, I know he's articulate and has a good vocabulary and stuff. I meant sort of he struggles to articulate his feelings/emotions. In the Being Mike Tyson show, he cries a lot and has very intelligent remarks to make, but I think he struggles sometimes to think WHY he feels that way about a particular subject.

I too am struggling to explain my position! I've been on a Tyson binge this weekend, watching tons of interviews and short documentaries. Can't wait to read his book!

The man is an encyclopedia. I knew he was knowledgeable, but bloody hell.

This is not just my opinion, I have heard boxing journalists discuss this..

Mike Tyson is one of the most knowledgeable people on the planet when it comes to boxing. He knows the history, the evolution, the techniques, the methods, the science, the art, the craft.

Cus D'Amato had the worlds largest collection of boxing videos. Mike and Cus watched and studied those videos for years when Mike was 14-19 years old.

He knows boxing better than almost anyone on earth. He was trained by one of the greatest coaches ever.

Teedub said:

I know what you mean.

Mike is sort of an enigma. When you first hear him speak, its easy to assume that he is stupid. He doesn't always speak clearly, his voice can be high pitched and even feminine, he is sometimes crude, he is sometimes on drugs. But, the more you listen to him to more you realize that he is highly intelligent in certain areas. (psychology, human nature, classism, american culture, women, sociology)

He is a very deep thinker as most fighters are. He has an interesting and unique perspective because he was born and raised outside the mainstream.

I agree that he does struggle to come to grips with his feelings and emotions. I can only imagine the feelings and emotions that he experiences. I know it's hard for him. He was not raised to be in touch with his feelings and emotions. He was raised to hurt people. It can be a tough transition to get over that and learn to express your emotions.

The killer has to learn to love.

It was actually his managers who had the biggest fight collection, Bill Cayton and Jim Jacobs I believe. But yeah, I was aware of his vast knowledge, but didn't know he knew THAT much! He literally knew things about all the fighters in that video.

Andre Ward was very impressive. It's not easy to fight someone like that who is being very dirty, rough, and physical. Ward handled it gracefully. Great composure and great mental toughness.

Of course, his skill level and athleticism was top notch. Is that the best left jab in boxing?

I love how he conserves energy and movement. He waits patiently and then he strikes. Very cobra like!

What separates Ward is his mind. His trainer told him to "stay intelligent". They are smart guys. They fight smart.

Can't wait for Pacquiao-Rios!
