Very soon, humans will live much longer than that.
I've been hearing that my whole life along with robots will take all our jobs and we'll all live lives of luxury.
Always 5 - 10 years away.
Then 10 years later the claim gets made again based on a new breakthrough that sounds suspiciously like all the previous ones.

What finally killed him was pneumonia. Probably picked it up in his hospital visits... I can't imagine being that old and worrying every day and night whether this was my very last day.

Pneumonia is lurking in your lungs all the time. When your immune system finally gets weak enough, or when you are just done with life and ready to pass, it's usually pneumonia. What the doctors call "the old folk's friend" because it lets you die peacefully when you're ready. Your O2 content slowly drops and you just shut down.

Interesting, didn't know about it lurking inside you. I knew it puts strain on your heart and basically gives you heart attacks, strokes and insta-kills you, which is why I always tell my geriatric dad to get vaccinated against it but it sounds like that won't do anything?

Pneumonia is medical term for inflection of the lungs from either virus, bacteria, or fungi (extremely rare occurrence). The sequence of events for pneumonia is minor viral infection overwhelming the immune system for moment in the lungs to lead to more potent viral infection or bacterial infection. The moment of weakness for immune system will to lead to whatever bacteria or virus in the community to affect you. Left untreated, pneumonia will affect your breathing and blood circulation as the heart pumping through the damage blood vessels of the lung and fluid build up from inflammation.
[email protected], best way for the person to avoid pneumonia is staying health and keeping active.

RIP Mr. Overton.
