Antiochian Patriarch has cucked out on the vaccine:

What surprises me in this statement is the flawed reasoning.

It does not follow that just because scientists have a better knowledge of vaccines than holy men that we should listen to scientists. This is for at least 3 reasons:

1. An Athonite father may not have scientific training, or even be literate, but he talks with angels and the saints, who issue prophetic warnings about medical technology, and know far more about science.

2. Scientists are a part of the world, and may be corrupted by worldly pursuits. Just look at Fauci.

3. Science is a process, not a consensus. Those who scream ‘Trust the Science’ do not understand the scientific method, which requires constant questioning of established hypotheses.

I am disappointed in the Patriarchate.

Any predictions on what the archdioceses (you choose) do when it's quite obvious that most people (especially elderly) have been vaccinated and we're clearly a year and a half out of this so-called disease with even fewer cases, not that cases actually ever mattered?

I don't think they are aware of how damaging their example and policies have been, most of them ...

I don't think masks are going away any time soon. I pray multiple communion spoons goes away. In my (GOARCH) parish a whole family got covid in January and they still have to wear masks. My dad is on active duty right now and despite having already received both shots, he had to quarantine for 2 weeks due to being exposed to a positive case after the shots. There's no logic in any of this. Just the inertia of fear.

Don't want to doxx my priest but we had a change in “administration” so my priest announced that though we will still have a “cap” in online registration, he will not turn anyone away from liturgy. Thank God! Anyone closely following GOARCH might know what I mean by “administration.”

I saw this posted online by a Romanian priest (automatic translation from Romanian):

The biggest vaccination campaign organized by the Orthodox Church begins!
Starting Monday, for seven weeks, the largest ′′ vaccination campaign ′′ will be held in the Orthodox Church since the beginning of the year until now. It's about the Fasting of Holy Easter, in which believers infected by passion, sins, sadness, fear and sickness are expected in all the ′′ vaccination centers ′′ in every parish or monastery, regardless of age.
The ′′ vaccine ′′ is based on the technique of forgiveness and repentance and has in its composition the Body and Blood of the Savior Christ.
The ′′ vaccine ′′ with Holy Mysteries will be administered in two instalments: the first through Holy Confession and the second, the ′′ booster ", through Holy Communion. The ′′ vaccine is produced ′′ by Jesus Christ himself, the doctor of souls and bodies, is a safe ′′ vaccine without side effects and leads in most cases to the salvation of souls.
Try to continue to respect the prevention measures against infection with passions and sins recommended by the Church: be kind, be merciful, forgive the mistakes of your neighbor, pray.......

I posted his tweet. The article did attribute secular ideas to the sentiment of the monks, a warning sign.
Every now and then I join a Zoom meeting through the Orthodox Christian Network (OCN). They have meetings with Athonite fathers, in which the laity can ask questions. I can highly recommend these meetings, as I've found them to be edifying.

Some of the fathers respond to vaccines by saying, “Ask your doctor. This isn’t a spiritual question.”

In particular, Archimandrite Elder Efrem has said this, and even encouraged the faithful to wear masks in church.

I’m not sure what to make of that, but it suggests that a minority of monks could take the vaccines in the future, which would be disappointing.

I am told the Serbian monk Arsenije Jovanović says the virus is a satanic manipulation.

From 11 months ago:

The state has its own approach to all this, and the Church has its own. From the overall approach of the state apparatus to this problem and action, one gets the irresistible impression that someone from the top wants to panic. The reason is unknown and can be speculated. After all, there is another unpleasant impression that someone cares about the worship services being stopped and the churches being closed. However, this has always been the case. Thank God, we have been relatively free for the last few decades. But only until recently have priests had their beards plucked. closed churches and monasteries and believers persecuted.I hope such times will not return, but that demon always exists, not only towards the Orthodox but towards every man who believes in God.Simply, this world has been in the struggle with God from the beginning.

I checked the announcement of the Government of Serbia, where it recommends that believers come to the church in small numbers and that it would be best if they were not in the church. So a recommendation is not a law. On the basis of all the democratic postulates of modern Europe, they would not be able to forbid that, because religion is something free. However, they are still trying to prevent it and use every way to convince the citizens that it is something bad, that we have no responsibility towards others and to leave our egoism until the epidemic passes.

We are approaching the scenario from Italy and Spain. Realistically, the situation in Serbia is far from the situation in Italy in Spain. Is the situation dramatic? What terminology is that. This really looks like a script and a directed dramaturgy.

Our monastery is not closed. The people can come. The people are terrified, so they are not in the same number as before. They can enter the church, receive communion. We are trying to reduce that tension. I do not want to be a babaroga and say that the Government of Serbia is a satanized Government, that it wants to scare the people, however, maybe they were also scared not being pious and spiritual enough, so they pass on their fear to the people. It is very important that our nervous system is at peace, not to be frightened. Therefore, the endocrine system and the immune system are healthy, functional and we cannot get sick. When a man is frightened and stressed, he falls ill with the most common sneeze. Now, at this moment, it is very important that both the state and the Church lower the tension. To speak soothing topics. To say it will be good. We will endure. To relax tense and overstretched human souls, and thus our immune system will be functional. We are not donkeys and cattle, we are aware that this is a serious situation, but we must not allow panic. Out of panic every evil goes. Especially that poor and critical group of people over the age of 65 are sitting at home in their homes bombarded with horrible media content. They may not get sick from the COVID19 virus, but they are in great fear ... I can only guess how many cardiovascular disorders there will be, how many brain disorders? How much sugar will jump in diabetics, how many new Parkinson's will occur, how many suicides and people will start drinking alcohol more than before. We prevented one evil and introduced ten others. We must work together for our people. " Out of panic every evil goes. Good news from the OCA!
As your Bishop, I insist each of you respect the conscience and privacy of your brothers and sisters in Christ. No one is to be asked if he or she has or has not received the injections. No one is to be denied full participation in the Divine Services or parish life regardless of his or her decision. No one should be judged or criticized one way or the other.

Aaaaand that is how monks speak truth to power.

And then in the next sentence he cuts right to the meat of the immuno-endocrine connection.
I'm sorry, but our Church's monks have no equals. Our bishops agreed to don the mask, a ton of our laypeople have become karens, but our monks are living saints, and our priests are towers of stability. People here would believe maybe half the stories of the miracles I witnessed, particularly on holy mountains. Where orthodoxy meets orthopraxy, you find our monks.

There is a certain small group of monks, the "Esfigmenou" brotherhood, who are very close to the EP and do his biding.
They were created to counter the real Esfigmenou brotherhood that actual dwells in the actual Esfigmenou monastery.
Their problem is that they don't commemorate the EP in their liturgies, so the EP created a new brotherhood and called the old one fake.

For the record, the key points of the article Father Peter quoted are:

They (the government) did a survey in Mount Athos asking who was willing to take the jab.
Of the 2000 monks dwelling in Mount Athos, only 300 said they would.
Of these 300 only 36 actually did.
Several monasteries have been infected with the virus and no one required special treatment. They weathered it and now have herd immunity.
The general sentiment is that they don't agree with the level of fear propagated by the establishment.
Several leading personalities (abbots, holy elders, monks with MDs etc) have spoken against the jab and the pandemic in general.
Vatopedi monastery considers the Pfizer jab as wholy inappropriate and is conducting their own independent study on alternative treatments.

At this point, I don't know whom to believe.

What matters, ultimately, is that there will always be a remnant of monks who will resist these demonic medical dictatorships.

When I was learning game, I remember listening to a Roman Catholic friend try to defend his Church against a feminist who thought they should ordain women. She called his Church sexist for not ordaining ladies, and he tried to say his Church wasn’t sexist because of chivalry, and venerating Mary, etc.

I remember realizing that he would never convince her, because he was playing right into her frame. Instead of judging feminism by Christianity, he was standing next to her judging Christianity by feminism.
Your Imperial Highness should have intervened in that conversation and to remind those eratics that at a time when women were seen as mere possession in the Byzantine Empire there were 20 empresses. Almost 1000 years before the famous speech of the Queen of England Elizabeth I (The speech to the troops at Tilbury - August 9 in the old style of 1588) the Formidable empress Theodora stood in front of her husband Justinan during the Nica riot and told him you weren't going anywhere. Also centuries before women like Maria Tudor became involved in religious issues, Empress Irina in Byzantium convened and led the last ecumenical council. Before Henric al VIII-lea it was Leo VI that was apparently afraid that his wives would dethrone him. At least you should have told them about Empress Helena who led an archeological expedition to the holy land., or told them of the time when Empress Theodora ordered general Belizarie to execute the Pope of Rome. You shouldn't have let that woman wander in ignorance and recommend her to read the book "Byzantine Empresses Women and Power in Byzantium AD 527-1204" by Lynda Garland

In Greece, the bishops agreed to begin the Paschal services at 9 p.m. on Saturday to comply with a curfew. Celebrating the Resurrection of Christ on the 2nd Day is absolutely uncanonical. As should be no surprise, not all Greek priests were willing to go along. So far, we know about six priests from Thessaloniki who dared to hold Paschal services at the appointed time in violation of the curfew. These heroic priests are now facing charges
We must pray for them as they face this persecution. In Cyprus, the government demanded the Church limit attendance to only 50 faithful, all of whom had to provide proof of vaccination. Otherwise you had to be in the courtyard. Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou issued a stinging rebuke of this mandate.
Vaccines were not required only in Cyprus. Admittance to the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem was restricted to only the fully vaccinated:
Washington State Governor Jay Inslee has ordered churches to segregate congregations into vaccinated and non-vaccinated sections. George M. Cantonis, President of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, announced in an email that all students, faculty, and staff will be required to be fully vaccinated by August 17, 2021. No word on what will happen to those who have a moral or practical objection to experimental vaccines which make use of aborted fetal cells. One would assume either distance learning, or a transfer to a more Orthodox seminary would be required.
While all of this is happening, in Canada churches are being closed, services interrupted, and pastors being arrested for “inciting people to go to church.”
