It matters if its directly copy paste. He might use the forum to launch his own "copy/paste" marketing product which overall lowers the value of the forum.
The forum has remained high quality primarily because of the strict rules prohibiting such acts.

Plagiarism isn't cool and should be called out.

That being said, welcome to the Internet.

I always thought his whole persona was too "RVF-perfect" to be true.

Hope I'm wrong. Think I'm right.

(he's not the only one I think this about).

Hey Joe,

Some copy and paste stuff in order to give a summary about sailing or handgliding, etc, hardly calls for the guillotine.

If you're looking to hang him, then go after something important like the Venezuela travel intel. That's the important stuff.

If you can't do that then drop your petty witchhunt.

I'll be honest, i think there are some things in his posts that are genuine. I've talked a lot with the gent over PM.

I don't have much of a problem saving yourself time by paraphrasing other sites. I just don't think i'd spend so much time (even in retirement) gathering so much information to cut and paste into massive posts.

I don't think that's fair.

When a guy purporting to have lived the "RVF Dream Life" rides suddenly into town, lots of younger guys are going to hang on his every word.

It is the job of the older men on this forum to take passing on their experiences, good or bad, seriously.

As such, disruption by fake personas ,created for god knows what purpose, should not be tolerated or given free reign to embellish and plagiarise.

The guy was a Nasa Test Pilot
Swims more than an Olympic Athlete on a daily basis.
Has atleast three properties in high end locations around the world.
Sails around the world, dropping everything, for over a year at a time.
Meets hot young women and sails them to uninhabited Islands for month long retreats, regularly.
Learnt Buddhism in China from Monks in the seventies, and still keeps in touch with them.
Is 48 years old, and apparently living the most baller lifestyle you can imagine.

This is just what I got from a few posts of his recently. Feel free to add to this 'profile'

They say a man is only as good as his word. Online that probably goes at least twofold.

If a person is going to plagiarize for one thing, and for what reason, his credibility goes into the shitter. If he had cited sources instead of trying to pass off others words as his own no one would care seeing as how the data is still relevant data.

Joe is posting what he is posting because he seems to have experience with that topic and that gave him reason to research the validity of the information presented to us as NTP's own rather than the proper author.

Check this shit out.

Why does it make a difference if the publication is genuine, the length of the data is good..Why do different individuals get a pass however NASA does NOT? Folks, for example, Jariel who no one has met after endeavors by many members..NASA is without a doubt motivating a few of us on the discussion so some of you all simply need to quit loathing..

Does anybody recollect G Manifesto..

Brought to you by free article spinner dot com.

If I wanted to read an over-rehashed version of second hand events, I'd head on over to Wikipedia.

I don't come here for information, the internet is an oasis of information.

I come here for first hand experience, for knowledge from people who know more than I do. I don't come here to get swindled by keyboard jockeys who spew regurgitated crap from blogrolls I've never heard of in corners of the internet I'll never go on.

Hating ? Please.

We just appreciate when people are genuine, and don't plagiarize.

Now I don't know about the rest of NTP's posts, but this is something that needs to be discussed.

Jariel and NTP are completely different, Jariel focuses on game, his shit is actually genuine, I doubt if you googled paragraphs of his stuff, you'll find there isn't anything like it on the internet.

Maybe there's a reason Jariel hasn't met up with anyone, but he hasn't made any VAST claims about his lifestyle such as NTP.

This is why sights are dialed in on NTP.

NTP might be absolutely inspiring, but some RVF guys are right, there is something odd going on here.

Plagiarism isn't cool in my book, and it does damage credibility.

It sucks seeing this happen, but truth is better than fiction.

Game theory is not the most difficult thing to write. Lots of guys can write about game but unless you have met them in person, you don't know if they are authentic, if they really walk the talk.

If you are a guy who has no problems travelling abroad and meeting people from different cultures, why wouldn't you meet guys that have similar mindsets and live in the same city as you?

Are you really going to tell me that he has no interest in meeting one or two members from this forum?

Nothing personal against the guy but something here is not right.

The topic is irrelevant. It makes no difference if the subject matter is game or NASA Test Piloting. If it's coming from an unverified source, then the it's suspect. It's that simple.

This is a fair statement when it comes to writing about game theory, and I don't have an answer to that.

I personally don't know if he does or doesn't have any interest in meeting anyone. I've never asked or read about it.

I know a few guys who are legit, that were skeptical about meeting other members, me included. Eventually I met up with some members. (Post Rape Article Fallout)

I also said, I take things with a grain of salt.

Trust but verify is ideal, but not always going to happen.

I still think Jariel games theory vs NTP's lifestyle has a huge difference.

Is it possible he is the original author in all the aforementioned links outside RVF?

He could also be writing under a fake persona in the other links as well to protect his own identity.

A plus B does not necessarily equal C. If he has copied and pasted some information, that doesn't unequivocally discount his claims. Perhaps he should have been more forthcoming in his sources and provided links as is the custom here.

In the Venezuela thread he posted this photo.

I don't think some basement dwelling troll would suddenly have access to a large amount of Venezualan cash and a NASA cap. Perhaps I have been fooled, but I'd like to think there is some truth to his story.

The witch hunt itself is interesting, and is surely motivated in part by a sense of having been 'duped' into thinking that real life could be an endlessly full and interesting affair; every moment pregnant with significance. The forum provides a certain medium for the exchange of information and ideas. To that extent NTP has not done much wrong, since many here have derived value from his posts. Whether the words were his or another's, he presented information that was relevant to the line of enquiry and that many here derived value from. As an aggregator and distributer of information, noone is particularly diminished by his plagarism, and many are enriched.

A related example would be the fact that there are several posters here from whom I derive tremendous value - some of which is having a profound affect on the way I live my life. Often in my reading, I come across ideas and ways of describing those ideas that I had previously attributed to the individual brilliance of the poster, but which in fact turn out to be the original idea or phrasing of another. Should that poster be in any way diminished because of this, or is the fault my own for creating an ideal that couldn't possibly be the case, even for brilliant men? For me, one of the most wonderful things about this forum is that we are free to judge other posters based entirely on the quality of content they provide (though I fear I fare badly in that regard). It is liberating to me not to know a man's name, his background, his 'class', his colour, his occupation, or anything else about him other than the moniker he has chosen. I must judge his brilliance free from prejudice, based solely on the value his written work provides.

None of that is to say that I condone the specific action of creating a false internet persona to impress those you've never met, and will never meet. That is tragic beyond words. There can be no satisfaction in living a fictional life, or in devoting precious time to looking cool on the internet. One of the best things about a forum such as this is that we are freed from the need to maintain an appearance, or to seem a certain way. We are gloriously free to try ideas on for size, and be wonderfully wrong and put right again based exclusively on the compelling content of arguments put against us. I would guess this is particularly true for those of us that are young. It is hard to be wrong, and uncomfortable, and something we try to avoid. But consequently we very often live within ourselves. It is a great glory that here we have the chance to advance into unfamiliar areas of thought, and have them sharpened by those wiser and better versed in the area of investigation than we are ourselves.

In short, don't be a loser and fake yourself on the web, but for those 'taken in', if you want to think of it that way, don't beat yourselves up - you obviously found real value in the content itself, and that is the main point of a forum such as this. I suspect many would continue to benefit even if NTP continued to post his cut and paste text. He is obviously reading and researching in places others aren't.

That is a lovely mountain of cash there.
A bolivar is about 10 to 1usd? That makes each stack of those what about a grand per? Not a bad amount of play money.

Doesn't matter if it's a newbie calling out NTP. I've never been sure that NTP is for real. A lot of his posts read like fiction out of Penthouse forum rather than anything based on reality and while some of the info may be good (for example that explanation of wave physics is cool), it's difficult to take a lot of his other stuff very seriously, especially if it's plagiarized.

While some guys don't seem to care so much about if he and others are real, I think it's vitally important that contributing members actually be truthful in relating their knowledge and life experiences. The big problem with the Internet age is that anyone can be anything, say anything while hiding behind a computer screen. This forum, this idea of making stronger men is made a mockery of by people like NTP, Manifesto etc who's writings are simply not believable for the most part. These are the worst kind of trolls if you ask me.

Now, should it turn out that NTP is for real and not some cut and paste troll, I will accept that I was wrong and acknowledge it in a separate post.
