Also, she won't win half of his estate as you may expect based on Anglosphere law. Austria's legal system is completely different to the Common Law system that the UK and US follow. Their judges are not able to break new ground and twist the interpretation of the Statute based on case law. He has likely already settled his assets into a foundation or some other succession plan, so she'll only get to share in whatever he has retained personally (real estate and personal assets, etc.). She'll probably get a few million out of it.

In US since most of his assets are before marriage she isn't entitled to anything. He will leave her a few million and then rest to whomever!

Half assets are only marriage property and we have both community property states and equity states.

California is a community property state so debt and assets in a marriage are split.

New York is an equity state so it isn't a 50-50 split..it is based on fair. So if a husband put in 75% of the assets and wife put in 25% they might split 30%/70% or something unequal.Debts are individual.

Having kids of course changes everything!

I think that the example requested was way too broad. I'm sure there is an excellent example, but Charles Manson doesn't quite qualify. He is poor in that he probably doesn't have a lot of money to his name (net worth), but he has income from fans/his wife as well as next to zero expenses. If he were to somehow be released from jail (not going to happen) I'm certain he could make significant money telling his story or touring. If he could do it while in prison he'd have significant income.
