Please Pray for Rob Banks

Is Rob Banks fine? It's been almost a month since this thread was last bumped. Apologies if it's already been said here and I didn't realize.

I've been kind of afraid to inquire and have been operating on a "no news is good news, I hope" basis for a little bit.

But I am writing a note to his sister to ask about him, and a note for him as well... have been delayed for a few reasons (including that I decided in the middle of writing that it would be nice to compose and record a voice message to be played instead of just something for someone else to read to him and am just plain slow with technology), and I will post with an update as soon as I know anything. <3

The update is as I expected: some ups and downs with keeping him stabilized, but basically no change. He acquired a lung infection, but it sounds like he's recovering from that.

I'm sorry I don't have better news, but I am glad to not have bad news. <3

God bless him, this is a super long time to be medically incapacitated by a lung infection. I think there is more to the story than the family wants to release.

I can understand that, and pray for God's blessing on him and his family.

Not incapacitated BY a lung infection. Sounds like the infection was acquired in the hospital/care facility.

I don't think anyone is sure exactly how it happened or what led up to it, but "sudden cardiac arrest" is what the doctors at the hospital said after he was found unresponsive.

If he's been in a coma the whole time, then he's been lying down. That can cause pneumonia.

When I was hospitalized for weeks, years ago, the doctor said I was starting to get pneumonia from having to stay in bed, lying down. I had to breathe deeply through some plastic contraption so many times every hour or two to re-inflate the little air sacs in my lungs. Rob can't do that if he's in a coma. There's probably something else they do for that situation though.

Thank you for letting us know. To be honest, I thought it probably had already happened, and you just didn't have the heart to type it out.

God is like a gardener, watching to see when the fruit is ripe, or sometimes harvesting early before a frost can destroy it. God knows everything, and He takes a person at the best time, even though we sometimes have trouble understanding.

This is a great point.

I kept up a bit on updates about Rob. One way or another, it was an act of mercy by God. Not everyone who dies is resting in peace, but whatever the case was with Rob, I think God wouldn't have taken him out unless it was only going to get WORSE. I can only hope he's with Jesus now.

Based on that, I think there's reason to have hope regarding Rob's spiritual state. There was a level of acceptance, forgiveness, and maturity in that comment that I think maybe he didn't previously possess.

For my part I can say that I was deeply heartened by the tone of the last messages he sent me, and very glad I had time to reply and hear back just before his incident. I actually have wondered quite a lot if God didn't reach out and pluck him right out of the midst of the darkness of the world as soon as he attained sufficient grace to face his demons on the field of spiritual battle.

That's a lovely thought. I hope Rob's family can think of his passing in that way, instead of thinking of it as a ruined life ended too soon.

I’m sad to hear this. I had hope for him but when I didn’t hear for awhile I didn’t know what to think. I’m glad I knew him on here for the time I did.
