Just saw this headline and figured I'd post it here....

"Erin Andrews Wins $55M In Hotel Peephole Lawsuit; Jury Blames Hotel & Stalker"

WTF. Ok I don't watch ESPN nor do I care about sports, but this just seems insane. There was a hidden camera in a hotel or something?? If anything, the exposure probably helped her like it usually does in these female celebrity cases. That kind of money for this seems off the charts. Apparently she was seeking $75MM but only got $55MM. Maybe someone can chime in who knows sports a little more.

The settlement is retarded.

Erin was staying in a hotel room and a peeping tom drilled a hole in the wall so he could peak in and record video. To be fair, Erin's body and type is a dime a dozen.

She probably sued the hotel for not having thicker walls which is stupid unless there was an employee who did it then by all means.

She won't be getting most of that money though. Because if you look on the ruling, something like 25 million will come from the guy. The hotel will probably settle or appeal. Her body is basically your average tall skinny white girl though.

The dude manipulated the door peephole to videotape her inside her room. That's why the hotel company was found liable, because the peephole shouldn't have been able to be accessed from the other side of the door. I remember when the story broke 10 years ago, because the ESPN newscasters tried to keep people from looking at the video by saying, "All the videos online are full of viruses set to attack your computer." I guess it's ok for newscasters to lie when they're white knighting.

I think the question is, if a dude was videotaped by a stalker inside his room, would the jury have awarded the same amount of damages?

good one. would the lawsuit even make it to trial? Hulk Hogan had someone videotape him having sex without his consent and then a nationally broadcasted television show put the edited tape on the air. The judge ruled that the TV network is not liable for damages because the expectation is that once the tape was in the public domain, Hogan no longer has the expectation for privacy. lol. FUCK THAT.

but after the hotel chain's liability is knocked down the 30 M to 12 M in appeal. And her lawyers take half, and the government and state taxes take half, her whining bitch ass is only going to be left with about 3 or 4 M. About 10 times more than the real damages that she actually suffered.

One sports radio talk show commentator in my area stated her stalker specifically asked for the room next to her's three different times, in three different cities, under the same name. That the hotel granted his request is irresponsible, and made the hotel negligent.

I know I am gonna get some hate for saying this but sports is stupid. It's a way to get loser beta males worship select few paper alpha idols while rotting away, drinking estrogen and listening to stupid ads.

I figure this thread is a good place to discuss this. I cannot stand listening to Doris Burke speak. She has a better knowledge of the NBA than most of the female broadcasters, and I don't even care that she is busted. Its her solipsistic pestering tonality that drives me bonkers. She acts as if she is dolling out wisdom never heard before when she asks the same banal questions as every other broadcaster.

The great ones, Marv Albert Mike Breen etc. understand how to be a commentator in service of the sport. They know their value comes in reacting to and enhancing what is happening on the court. Doris Burke babbles about fucking nonsense for a minute and a half and then has a look on her face like she just wrote the Hamlet soliloquy. There was a game last year where she was droning on about what some assistant coach said at halftime, while Lebron threw down a monster alley oop in the background. She seemed completely oblivious to the play and continued to discuss her conversation with the assistant like she was Bob Woodward during Watergate.

I was already at the end of my rope with her, and then I heard her on the Zach Lowe podcast talking about how difficult it was to compete in a male dominated profession. She went on and on about how she has to be smarter and tougher than her male colleagues. All of the usually tired cliches. Then she starts discussing a particular incident with Gregg Popovich.

"But, yeah, Zach, it’s not fun. Everybody laughed at that, last year – and I don’t know if you remember the moment – but I had asked him something about the offensive end, and he said “turnovers,” one word. Then I asked him about, “OK, on the defensive end, you held them to whatever percentage. What did you see that you liked on that end?” And he said “turnovers” again."

"Two words. I was devastated. It was brutal. It was absolutely brutal. I was almost in tears. I go back to where I sit, and I’m trying to compose myself, because I thought I asked two pretty good questions. And those were those were the responses I got.

Almost in tears. Literally blinking back tears"

It must be so hard, what a professional :tard:
