Is everyone gonna keep up the Arctic showers at the end of the year? I've been taking my normal scorching showers and letting the cold water run for about a minute at the end, but I don't know if I can keep it up in December and January.

I take cold showers. I don't have the stones to do them every time but it's a regular habit for me.

I did it for just a couple of days a couple years ago when the apartment building was without hot water, and got rid of my seasonal allergy symptoms for a number of weeks. However I pussied out once the hot water outage ended and haven't done it since until now.

There's gotta be something to it. Every Christmas they show crazy old dudes swim in the icy-cold river Vltava in Prague. These guys tell the reporters they'd never get sick.

So I decided to join this cult and started doing cold showers 2x a day starting this week. Will report back if/when results come.

I posted on page 2 about doing the James Bond shower... I don't recall when I stopped doing that but the only way I shower these days is with cold water. Despite doing it every day for several months, the first 10 seconds are still kind of tough.

I feel great. But again, it could be the ACV, the coconut oil, green tea, RAW juicing, zinc, selenium or simply exposure to this website :p

I find that when I dry off after a cold shower I am itchy as hell.. Anyone?
Your skin is irritated by the cold water, causing the itchy reaction (histamine release).

Finally found the balls to do this and wow, the results are there.

I find it interesting that the same fear I have of washing off in the cold shower (i e. hopping in the bitch and getting "hosed down.") is the same fear I have before I approach a woman.

Cold showers every morning is a great exercise. It helps aid one in overcoming fear, finding elation in the midst of pain, pushing out of your comfort zone, and starting the day off right.

It is kinda spiritual. I found a website that considers the "pain" you feel when you take a cold shower, which may cause a spurt of anguish, is really a "war cry" or "chant," a shout against the adversity you must fight for the day:

An added benefit is that you will probably become very holy the moment the cold water hits your body, because it is very likely you will shout, "Oh my God!" You might try exclaiming, "Wahe Guru" ("Wow, God is Great!") or "Ang Sang Wahe Guru" ("God lives in every limb of my being"). Remembering God is always a blessing.
Go in and out of the water four times, constantly massaging your body until the water no longer feels cold. Be sure to get the armpits (major nerve centers) and the insides of the thighs. You can even stand on one foot and massage the top of it with the other foot, but don't slip or trip. Women, be sure to massage your breasts.
Then, your first victory of the day achieved, dry off briskly with a rough towel till the body really shines; put on loose, comfortable exercise clothing, and you're ready to do your sadhana, your personal daily spiritual practice.

I think this is one way of learning how to walk on hot coals.

My new routine every morning: 30 minute mediation. 1 hour of working out. 10 minute cold shower.

Thanks for the tip.
