Yes but I am still with her so can't just 'move on.'

I just have to live it but I am finding it difficult. I am not convinced this isn't a kind of self-sabotage as well.

Read Madonna-whore complex. Not a fan of Freud but he was right that a lot of men have this complex. Same as a "savior complex". They are self sabotage.

I think it comes from a lack of experience and/or options.

I have fallen for this trap too. You grow out of it eventually. Unless you never mature.
