R Kelly found guilty of all counts in sex trafficking trial

It's sad but this is now my first reaction to stuff like this, too. I'm not defending R Kelly - don't know him personally, didn't listen to his music - from what little I know about this it seems an open and shut case and he's guilty. The question is, though, why him? Why this? The whole media industry seems so lurid whenever you see any given individual getting in trouble for what is standard operating procedure you start to wonder what caused him in particular to get thrown under the bus. Did he cut in line with a 14 year old that some other, higher up dude felt protective about? Just protecting (wittingly or not) even bigger fish? Etc.
He hit on somebody’s daughter.

So let me get this straight, R Kelly will get 10 to 100 years in jail for having sex with teenagers but Kiranjit Ahluwalia can burn her husband alive, kill him and get 3 years in jail due to the battered wife defense?

Okay.

She got life at first, and then it was overturned as a mistrial. But in the process, a new legal precedent was set, so now women in the UK can indeed murder their sleeping husbands, say it was because they felt sad, and only be tried for manslaughter. This woman was a bit of a hero to a couple of my family members, who are lefty feminists of the old school, meaning that now they are bigoted TERFs/TEFs who don't agree with the obvious truth that some women have cawks and should be allowed to change next to their granddaughters in swimming pools.

Just here to add that IMO rap is absolute trash -- the lyrical themes, the lazy / non-eloquent way of speaking, the glorification of violence, the lack of any real musical talent and absence of anything intellectual, the perpetuating of a destructive culture, the (((handlers))), the overt sexuality and sexual immorality, the absence of the holy spirit and the hyper-focus on material things, the entitlement and narcissism, its confused and distorted portrayal of masculinity, its creation of the 'wigger' persona, the giant chip on the shoulders of its stars (mainly from fatherless homes) and their inability or refusal to speak truth to that problem.

Even the very approach to rap, the posture one assumes, is beyond cringe. I see so many young people helplessly in its grip -- talking in cheap slang and purposely dumbing themselves down, doing that hand thing and head tilt when speaking. Buying $600 sneakers and pretending to be Drake lol. It has completely hijacked these kids.

But it is quite an effective money maker for the (((handlers))) at the expense of a healthy Christian culture.

Very true, and this culminated in R v Charlton, where a woman got 5 years after handcuffing, blindfolding and then killing her man with repeated axe blows to his tied up body. The tied up and blindfolded man was then portrayed as a control freak.

But R Kelly will get 10 to 100 years for sex with teenagers. Something a bit askew in the state of Denmark?

"C had met the victim ('V') whilst working as an escort."

"C and V had unusual sexual practices, described by the judge as "depraved "

"The sentencing judge described her as of good character with no violent tendencies. What had happened was out of character, she was a good mother and it was the deceased who had taken the axe to the bedroom."

He put the axe in the room, so he was asking for it.

Yes, a professional sex worker who kills her mate with an axe has a good character. Five years for cutting the handcuffed man up with an axe.

R Kelly had sex with teenagers. Obviously a horrible character, 10 to 100 years in jail.

Something is not right.

Reduced to 3.5 on appeal.

We'll see what happens with R Kelly, I assume he has an appeal in the works (don't really care, won't check)
Last I read he had a net worth of minus 2 million USD. I don't think there'll be an appeal orgy Cosby style. He just doesn't have the cash Cosby does.

What he did happened with parental consent. That is the real scandal that is not talked about. No fathers in the home, mothers that were early sexualized and teach their daughters to be like them. Good, lock R. Kelly up. But not the moms?
Not forgetting that the mothers probably pushed their daugthers in the law case for the money. I don't know anything about this case, but it seems that all parties lose here and are severely traumatized/on the wrong track.
