Wow, this is beyond embarrassing. Look at how angry Pence is, he can't even look at Tucker.
There was an effort to 'gentrify' the area in the early 2000s, which mainly resulted in the city ripping out old rail lines and historic buildings in the old fashion district, which were then replaced by overpriced apartment buildings with zero charm and completely lacking anything resembling a functioning neighborhood. I’m not surprised to learn that these ambitious plans quickly backfired, and that the lack of proper planning, hastily approved subsidies, and an influx of short term oriented real estate developers in the end backfired.I'm in Los Angeles right now. I remember visiting years ago and how downtown LA creeped me out. A buddy of mine just texted me it seems like the whole area is haunted.
I also have to type this out because I landed a couple hours ago. Where I'm currently staying creeps me out. There's graffiti everywhere, some crazy homeless lady just took a leak in public, and the hostel I'm staying in just seems off.
I'm glad it will only be a few days and then I can return home.

Riding public transportation in LA is surreal. There's a lot of druggies, people running past the fare machine, older people that don't want to work. Chicago's metro is a slight upgrade as in it's slightly faster, there aren't as many degenerates. Last February, I finally traveled via flight - unvaxxed, mind you - for the first time in three years to Orange County for an international martial arts week. After class, my instructor and I went with our Japanese karate instructor to a popular Japanese teriyaki rice bowl eatery place near the karate school.Riding public transportation in LA is surreal. I think there's general malaise about how living conditions are deteriorating. Nobody cares that the homeless are defacating in the streets.
Even as I type this at starbucks, there's (I presume) a homeless person sleeping by me.
During a recent trip to Atlanta and Raleigh, I saw several 6ft 3+ black men obviously on hormones, with saggy breasts and feminized jawlines, doughy bodies that probably would have been intimidating had they allow their T to flourish. No makeup, but each one was working somewhere requiring a uniform. They looked horrifying. There is something to this trend, I don't know what. Maybe they were molested by mom's boyfriend? Maybe they are trying to escape the Thug stereotype? Maybe a combination? The white men I have seen on hormones look like porno addicts. The black ones, they are a different breed, of a different origin.
Quebec is interesting because in many ways it is the most left wing province of Canada, yet in some ways it is the most conversative. Especially when it comes to cultural and demographic preservation. They're not fat because they maintain the French eating discipline. It could've been a nice place to live if the government wasn't so crazy. Though I hear there's been a huge conservative backlash after the ridiculous covid policies in Quebec, so there is still some hope. Was on a road trip through Quebec recently, along the St. Lawrence river and into Quebec City for a bit.
A few things I noticed on the road trip:
- Gas has never been cheap there, but it seems ridiculously expensive even for today - $4.92 USD per gallon, 87 octane.
- There are still small grocery stores in most small towns I drove through. In the US, these were driven out of business by dollar stores.
- Dollar stores in America are highly correlated to the obesity epidemic - the maps are nearly exact overlays.
- The dollar stores in Canada (Dollarama) don't sell much food, only one aisle of candy/chips and barely any soda.
- I saw obese people in Quebec, but not nearly as many as in America.
- I did not see any US branded chains of dollar stores, only Dollarama, the main Canadian chain. Maybe they keep US stores out?
- Small butcher shops with quality meats and cheeses are still easy to find even in semi rural areas.
- Unlike America, not every food maker pays the Jew tax - only the major brands are marked "CoR," a Canadian kosher certification.
- At mass in a small town on Sunday, I saw someone make change in the collection dish! New one on me....
- The mass was very well attended, but there were no children, and the average age was about 60.
Quebec is a beautiful place and inherently Catholic. If it were successful in separating from Canada back when they had the referendum 25 years ago, it may have offered another independent option for living in North America outside of US interests. Alas, it didn't happen and likely never will. I fear it will slide further into globohomo as the secular influence grows.

I have only Ontario to compare with, which seemed terribly bland and devoid of culture. Toronto especially is one of the most depressing and soulless cities in North America. Except for the usual "multicultural" suspects.

French kids grow up with much stricter rules about eating. Snacking is heavily discouraged, except for a small snack in the late afternoon. Breakfast is lighter, portions are smaller, and they make kids eat their veggies before they get anything else. Most importantly, there is much less junk food in France and it seems Quebec. What is the “French eating discipline”?
